[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Fun twist on Betrayal At House on the Hill, which is required to use this add on. Quality pieces and packaging. Meshes well with parent game. Great way to mix up a game that you may have already played before.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I love anything Pennywise related, this was fun once we got the hang of it. It was a little confusing at first but maybe because I was playing with my kids. It was still fun and super cool story line of course.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The packing and quality of the game is great. Looks like it’ll last over the years and not cheaply made. That being said this genre isn’t my favorite so the game was alright but not what my family would usually play. I’m sure people who like this genre more would enjoy it. It does take at least 3 people to play so be aware that it’s best for game night with friends or other adult family.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The Evil of Pennywise expansion adds a creepy twist to Betrayal at House on the Hill, especially for fans of Stephen King’s It. The theme is spot-on—Pennywise is a chilling addition, and the artwork captures the unsettling atmosphere really well. If you enjoy the base game, this expansion definitely spices things up with new rooms, items, and haunts inspired by Derry’s most infamous resident. However, some of the same issues from the base game carry over. The instructions can be a little unclear, especially when it comes to the new haunts. A few feel rushed or unbalanced, with either the traitor or the heroes having a clear advantage from the start. It would’ve been nice to see fewer, more polished haunts that really dig into the psychological horror of Pennywise. Overall, The Evil of Pennywise is a fun addition with a strong theme and great visual design—but it could benefit from clearer directions and more refined haunt scenarios. Worth it for fans who want a darker, more cinematic horror experience.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The 3rd edition of Betrayal at House on the Hill is more approachable than the 2nd edition. The rules are more easier to follow and simple enough for anyone to pick up. The only cons of the third edition is that the haunts are a little lackluster. There are also less haunts compared to the first and second edition. Overall, this edition is an improvement from the other games and a fun board game to play.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Anything’s inspired by Stephen king books is not a disappointment. This game is good, although I like the original betrayal ones more. Easy to assemble, high quality and durable. Well packaged as most card games are! A bit advanced for younger kids but overall a great game to play with adults.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Okay, Betrayal: The Evil of Pennywise is such a cool and creepy twist on the classic Betrayal at House on the Hill. If you’re a fan of It or just love horror in general, this expansion totally delivers. The vibe is darker, more intense, and obviously super unsettling thanks to Pennywise lurking around. The storylines are all themed around Derry and the world of It, so you really feel like you’re in that universe while playing. The tension ramps up fast, and when the haunt kicks in… it gets chaotic in the best way. It still has that same exploration-and-then-betrayal format, but everything feels more sinister and cinematic. Just a heads up—this is an expansion, so you do need the 3rd edition base game to play it. But if you already have that and enjoy spooky, story-driven games, this one is totally worth adding to your shelf.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The game was fun. We played with 5 people total. Set up was easy. Instructions relatively easy. There was a mistake on the cards- Instructions say “strange dust “ the card says “a vial of dust”. The game odds well made so it will last quite awhile. This expansion pack was a fun storyline, adding to the whole element of the game

Betrayal at the Neibolt House: The Evil of Pennywi

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] If you’re a fan of Stephen King’s It and enjoy the chaos of Betrayal at House on the Hill, then Betrayal at the Neibolt House: The Evil of Pennywise is a must-try. This standalone game takes the classic Betrayal formula and plunges it into the eerie world of Derry, Maine, where the Losers’ Club faces off against the shape-shifting terror known as Pennywise. What’s the Game About? In this game, 3–6 players explore the infamous Neibolt House, uncovering creepy rooms and items while trying to avoid Pennywise’s deadly tricks. As in the original Betrayal, players build the house tile by tile, triggering events and collecting items. Eventually, the Haunt begins, and one player becomes the traitor—this time, it’s Pennywise himself, and he’s out to get you. What Works Well Immersive Theme: The game does an excellent job capturing the unsettling atmosphere of It. From the creepy room tiles to the Pennywise miniatures, the theme is strong and engaging. High Replayability: With multiple Haunts and scenarios, each playthrough feels fresh. The game offers a variety of challenges and twists, keeping players on their toes. Easy to Learn: The rules are straightforward, making it accessible for both newcomers and seasoned gamers. The game balances strategy and randomness, ensuring a fun experience for all. What Could Be Better Component Quality: Some players have noted that the materials, such as the character dials and miniatures, could be of higher quality. Rule Clarity: Like the original Betrayal, some of the Haunt rules can be a bit unclear, requiring players to interpret scenarios on the fly. Who Will Enjoy It? This game is perfect for fans of horror-themed board games and those who appreciate a good twist. If you enjoy storytelling and the thrill of betrayal, Betrayal at the Neibolt House offers a unique and exciting experience. Final Thoughts Betrayal at the Neibolt House: The Evil of Pennywise is a fantastic addition to the Betrayal series. It brings the terror of Pennywise to life in a way that’s both fun and frightening. Whether you’re a fan of It or just love a good horror board game, this one is worth checking out.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Publisher: Avalon Hill Expansion for: Betrayal at House on the Hill (3rd Edition required) Players: 3–6 Ages: 17+ (due to mature horror themes) Review: This is an expansion set that brings Stephen King’s IT into the world of Betrayal. Set in The Neibolt House, the module lets players face off against the iconic and terrifying Pennywise the Dancing Clown. It introduces new room tiles, omen cards, and haunts specifically themed around Derry and the horrifying creature that preys on fear. Pros: A must-have for fans of IT or Stephen King Themed content adds depth and fear factor to the game Pennywise is a chilling and well-integrated antagonist Cons: Requires the base game to play Horror theme is darker and more mature — not for kids Best enjoyed by players already familiar with Betrayal mechanics 🎈 If you're brave enough to face your fears, this expansion makes your Betrayal nights even more thrilling.
