These items are designed for general household use are not waterproof and do not contain UV protection. Rain, snow, and other weather can penetrate the cracks of the lid. If using it outdoors, we suggest you cover it with a waterproof tarp, store it under a roof, or inside a garage, shed or other building to help prevent drying out from sun exposure, and to keep moisture from penetrating the unit.
