A: Hi Evie E, thank you for your inquiry. While our Hefty Strong Multipurpose Large Drawstring Trash Bags do not have any perfume added. To maintain odor-free processing, our manufacturing facility routinely checks finished products, but the product sometimes absorbs odors before it reaches you. The source of this problem can be difficult to identify, but under certain conditions, paper/plastic products can absorb odor from a warehouse or other surroundings during storage. For this reason, they should not be stored with perfumed items such as dryer sheets, laundry detergents, etc. Hope you found this useful!

They’re quality Glad bags but they have a pungent, chemical odor. On the plus side, I won’t wait to take out my trash, but I don’t love this odor diffusing throughout my house. I won’t buy them again.

The scent was awful. I looked through all of the trash bags at Target and chose these because they didn’t say they were scented, so I was surprised by such a strong scent. Durable but make sure to find an unscented one if you’re sensitive to smells.

Wish I had seen the negative reviews before buying. These should be clearly marked as scented! We only buy unscented and thought we were doing so again given there is no indication of a scent -- really a headache-inducing, nauseating stench. Such a waste of money. Do better Hefty and Target.

I purposely search for unscented bags because I am astmatic. Lately even unscented have a light scent which is offensive but this smelled up the entire house and the scent was of a nasty mish mosh of powders like they failed to clean the machine and all the scents ran together. It was awful.

As other reviewers have noted, these bags now have a weird odor. I store mine above the fridge, so storing it near cleaning products is not the reason. And yes, the bags are thinner.

I concur with the previous reviewers who mentioned the strong fragrance which actually makes me feel sick to my stomach! This seems to be an ongoing trend with every plastic or paper product that I buy although supposedly unscented. Very frustrating and impossible to remedy, in spite of making constant complaints to the manufacturers, who swear that no fragrance has been added. Haven't noticed a durability issue yet.

These bags used to be great; strong, easy to open, and no scent. Lately, they have been much thinner and have a strong fragrance even though they supposedly are unscented. I purchased a box like this from another retailer months ago, and thought maybe it was a fluke, but alas the box from target this week was exactly the same.

The quality has changed significantly. The sides fall apart easily and I have to double or triple the bags to keep them from falling apart.

Junk bags lately

Hefty bags have been complete JUNK as of late. Each bag I’ve pulled out has had tears in the side of it. This renders it unable to be used. I’ve reached out to hefty but they do not seem to care one bit. This is across the board with hefty. I had this issue with multiple different trash bag styles. Hopefully other people complain to hefty and they actually resolve it.
