Q: Can you completely turn off all the lights at night? Is there a way to set it to red light, which is less disruptive to sleep, for nighttime? What happens if the power goes out?

A: You can dim the display, but not turn it off completely. The color of the light is blue, but you cannot turn it to any other color. This has a button cell battery that will hold the time if the power goes out, but it will not display the time.

A: The Sound Spa is equipped with gradual wake, which means that the alarm begins soft and slowly gets louder. This will ensure a non-jarring wake-up. This only has 1 alarm tone.

A: While listening to the radio press the SNOOZE/DIM/SLEEP button to activate the sleep feature. This allows you to set a sleep timer for 15, 30, 45, and 60 minutes. Once set, the unit will continue playing for the set length of time, then will automatically turn off.

A: Yes! Just press the ALARM button to adjust the maximum volume of the gradual wake feature (alarm begins soft and slowly gets louder) by using the TUNER buttons you can adjust the sound level up or down

Wish I had read better as I thought this checked all my boxes. But I set the alarm and then realized it's a daily alarm that will go off on weekends as well as weekdays. Nothing worse than being woke up early on a Saturday after forgetting to turn off the alarm the night before! I'm returning this for that reason. The other problem is the projected time is not facing me. With the clock facing me, the time is projected backward. I had to rotate the clock around on the table so the clock faced away from me to read the projected time on my ceiling. Doesn't matter if I rotated the projector to the wall either, still backwards. The reason I got this alarm clock over some others that I liked is because they put the buttons conveniently on the top front where they can be seen, but if I have to rotate the clock away from me to see the projected time then it defeats the purpose of having convenient buttons. Back to my long search for a clock that does it all. I'd pay $100 for a nice alarm clock, but seems there are none that do all the things I want. This one was pretty close, but I also would've liked better speakers on it, like near stereo quality.

We use the sound machine every night. Having the time projected on the ceiling is life changing. Brightness can be changed but I am unsure how to change it when alarm goes off. It is nice and bright to help wake me up. Great little alarm clock.

I was looking to replace an old homedics alarm clock which included an indoor & outdoor temperature sensor, had a time projection feature, was a sound machine, & had a radio & alarm components. This was the closest I found in my search. I like that it has the sound machine & time projection component but couldn’t find one with the temperature as well so I purchased this one. However, the clock is super bright, as is the projection feature, & the sound choices aren’t as good as I’d been used to. For instance, I had difficulty figuring out which choice was the ocean. Also, as everything else nowadays, cost twice as much as my old clock.

We purchased this because a 15 year old version started having loud static/chirping sounds. This is exactly what we wanted, but like other reviewers said - it is bright. You can adjust the display brightness - bright, not as bright, off. The ceiling projection can be turned off, but my 15 year old likes to see the time on the ceiling - though it is also bright. We have the display turned off and have the ceiling on. The sounds are perfect. (I am a light sleeper and it would be too bright for me and turning off the display and projector defeats the purpose of having it to begin with)

Both the radio and recorded noises had this horrible crackling static that played louder than them, even at the lowest setting. When I tried to use the projection light, I only saw a blank space where it lit up on the ceiling. Returned the clock to get something similar that works just fine.

Very disappointed in this item. The radio plays with static and all of the prerecorded sounds play with even MORE static! It is not usable or relaxing when you have to listen to static-y ocean or rain sounds. Really only works as a clock. Target did refund me for my purchase.

I like this machine. My only complaint is that each sounds is on a 3 second loop, so it’s very repetitive and becomes annoying sometimes. I wish the loops were longer. I like the projected alarm though.

My complaint about the unit is that when the unit is turned off, it will turn itself on and the radio will be blaring. This has happened multiple occasions. It has even happened when the sound is playing and then it switches over to blaring radio. Most times I unplug the unit at night time. I would like to return for a full refund. Poor quality!

Terrible quality. Bought this unit January 4th, 2019 and everything except the clock stopped working in the middle of April and I bought it solely for the nature sounds. I don't intend to throw good money after bad by paying to send it to Homedics to be fixed. If you buy this unit, pay extra for the trade warranty. Even when it worked, the radio reception was terrible and the controls are not user friendly and didn't work consistently. I'll never buy another Homedics product.

Bought for the overhead projection of the time and the white noise sound for sleeping.
Works perfectly. I have had a travel HoMedics sound machine for years, so was sure this
one would deliver. Only option it should have, but doesn't, is to be able to rotate the projection
direction so the clock could face one way and the projection be out to the side so the time
on the ceiling and the clock on the radio could be read at the same time from the bed.
No more rolling over with all the covers to see the time on the face of the clock-just look up
at the ceiling! Sounds are great and projection is great. Dimming features work well also.

I have been looking far and wide for a clock that allowed me to wake up to soothing nature sounds - and this alarm clock is the one!!! I had been wanting to keep my cell phone out of the bedroom at night but that meant I had to buy an alarm clock. I didn’t want to wake up to annoying beeping sounds and that’s all other alarm clocks seemed to offer. I like that this clock allows you to set two alarms, to turn the front clock light completely off, and to turn the ceiling light off as well. I do find the ceiling light a bit disruptive at night even though the blue is a fairly soothing color. I like being able to see the time without looking at my phone or the clock face itself though. Overall a top notch purchase that met all of my needs! Highly recommend if you’re in a similar situation!

The projection is too bright of a blue light. It should be red. The speaker has a steady ring no matter what sound you're listening to. You have to have the volume up loud enough do not hear the ring, then it's too loud to go to sleep to. I'm returning it.

I bought the SoundSpa for their selections of sounds (rain, thunder and rain, campfire, etc.) but I like that it is also a radio, alarm clock and has the time projection too. The projection works really well; I can see the time on the ceiling without my glasses so that is a huge plus. The digital radio has good sound but there is no way to save stations for easy access. You have to manually tune up or down for a channel change so it's a little tedious if you are going from a lower number station to a higher one. Some of the sounds aren't very good. For example, the fan noise doesn't sound like a fan at all. And as much as I enjoy the thunderstorm one, the thunder is the same pattern over and over. I wish it would have a more natural flow. But for the price of the SoundSpa, when you include all that it comes with, it is a really nice system. I like that there is a dimmer on the backlight, the nice radio sound, the time projection and the more realistic sounds (like the rain, brook and campfire.) I recommend it, but keep in mind some of the sounds might disappoint.

This is a nice clock. I bought it as a gift for an elderly person. I mentioned a previous review about the brightness of the clock and that was right on! It was too bright for her but she cleverly covered the face with window tinting material and now, she is happy. The projection light was the feature that we were wanting and she is very happy with it. I gave a 'four-star' review because the brightness of the face doesn't not have an adjustment.
