An Original and Compelling Read
A beautiful and compelling story based (with factual liberties) on a real race horse that weaves the history, politics and financial dealings of horse racing from America’s early days. Told from the alternate perspectives of slaves who were deeply involved in the care and training of the horses (at great personal cost) and the modern-day archeologists/scientists/historians who research and preserve their legacy. I learned a lot and gained appreciation and respect for all involved, and greatly enjoyed doing it.
