Keep wine, soda and other beverages fresh with this two-pack of Houdini stoppers in fun colors (colors may vary). Made from silicone and stainless steel, these dishwasher-safe stoppers are compatible with a wide variety of bottles. Features an air-tight seal. Great addition to any bar or kitchen. Cheers to that!
Honestly these are the best stoppers on the market for most people, and I've tried a lot of stoppers. The bright colors are not the most elegant in the world, but they are very effective at their job, which is to keep excess air out of the bottle. They don't shrink and lose their seal like cork-based stoppers, and they don't corrode like metal ones. I've had a set for years, and just bought two more.
Love this idea and have used them in the past. But, these are amazingly good at spilling your wine everywhere! Our wine rack in the refrigerator lays the bottle on the side. No matter how full the wine bottle, the pressure builds in the bottle and sometimes pops off. It will leak all over the fridge, or when you take the cork out you will get showered with a lovely wine mist. Either use these with bottles that remain upright always, or don't use them.
These keep your wine fresh, but DON'T expect them to give you a perfect seal. Like a amateur, I used them and then stored the wine on it's side...needless to say, that's not what they're for and when I came back to it, the wine had spilled all over the fridge. Only use if you plan to store the bottles upright!
These things are amazing. I had previously bought a different kind of stopper from a liqour store - the kind with the metal flap that you press down to "seal" - and they both broke on the first use. I bought these instead and I love them. They fit easily, and seal the wine very well. My bubbly wine is still super bubbly days later. When I remove these stoppers, there is still a "pop." That tells you how well these things seal the bottle. And, they were so inexpensive. Win!
I had my doubts when i saw these - the bottle pouring options with ridges that you see don't always work - but I was pleasantly surprised! I have one for white wine and one for red (well, basically), and they stay put when they need to, come out of the bottles easily... and easy to clean!
