Great Phone But Heavy and Small
The functionality and camera upgrades are excellent. The phone feels heavier than my 11, and it’s a touch smaller, too, while also feeling/seeming thicker, which I don’t like. Still, it’s a nice upgrade and the screen resolution is very high quality, while the moving images go to the very edge of the screen/phone.

Good, unsure about the battery life
It’s a decent phone, it’s only been a month! The camera is very nice, definitely an upgrade in that area! The battery life, I’m not sure it’s great. I use my phone a lot but even my past phone didn’t drop to 50% in the afternoon. But the overall software is great and the new layout and buttons are convenient.

Why the off-schedule upgrade.
The main reason to do an earlier upgrade was the improved camera systems. Up to this point, I purchased an iPhone every two years: 12, 14, 16 Pro.

slow delay, not improved battery life
it has a delay, when i’m doing something quick it lags. i had the 14pro before this, and this one is not any better. experiencing glitching and random freezing as well. not improved on battery life. the only thing that is better than the 14pro is the camera.

I don’t understand all the workings, but I know that this is probably the phone that has worked the worst for me. It freezers all the time. It has a long lag when unlocking or trying to get anything done, eve typing this message, as I’m typing I see it trying catch up. But if it was an old flip phone, calls going out and coming in, it works just fine.

Volume control is not acceptable
The volume control seems to control both the ringer volume and the application volume at the same time, the two volumes appear to be linked. Those were two separate volumes on my previous iPhone, I could have the ringer on and application volume off at the same time. I never know when something on my phone is going to start playing music or something, so I keep that volume at 0, but now my ringer volume is also at 0 and I miss lots of calls.

Hi Jim, thank you for sharing your feedback about the iPhone 17 Pro volume controls. We understand how frustrating it can be when the ringer and media volumes are linked, affecting your ability to keep your ringer audible while muting app audio. To address this: 1) Separate Ringer and Media Volume Go to Settings > Sounds & Haptics. Locate the “Change with Buttons” toggle under Ringer and Alerts. Turn this toggle off. This allows your ringer and alert volume to remain independent of media controls, so you can keep the ringer audible while lowering app or media volume as desired. 2) Control Media Volume Separately Swipe down from the top-right corner of your screen to open Control Center. Use the media volume slider while playing music or videos to adjust app audio without affecting your ringer. 3) Use Physical Controls Mindfully When the device is not playing media, the volume buttons adjust the ringer and alerts only. When media is active, the buttons adjust media volume instead. Pausing media temporarily lets you control the ringer volume with the buttons again. 4) Optional: Reduce Automatic Volume Changes Check Settings > Sounds & Haptics > Headphone Safety and disable Reduce Loud Sounds if it’s lowering volumes unexpectedly. Ensure Focus modes or Attention Aware Features (Settings > Face ID & Passcode > Attention) are turned off if active, as these can automatically affect volumes. Following these steps should restore independent control of ringer and app volumes, helping you avoid missed calls while keeping media muted. I LOVE IT!
I am highly impressed with the storage capacity and durability of the iPhone 17 Pro. Having transitioned from the iPhone 16, I can confidently say that the iPhone 17 Pro surpasses the durability of the aluminum-bodied iPhone 17 Pro, especially since I always keep a case on it, which only adds to its resilience. Overall, I am extremely satisfied with my iPhone 17 Pro.

Apple’s Worst Phone In Years
Putting aside the improved camera features, this is a step backwards for Apple. This phone is significantly heavier and horribly asymmetrical when held horizontally. The camera plateau isn’t just a visual eyesore, it makes holding the phone uncomfortable as the weight is noticeably uneven. Also, changing the ring/silence switch to a button doesn’t improve anything. Now the screen has to be on to know if the phone is actually on silent. You will also constantly press this new button by accident when you try to raise the volume. This is the first new iPhone I’ve ever had where I considered returning it for an older model. It’s a lot to get used to and for no good reason. Even though I upgraded from a much older model, the experience is almost exactly the same. With the exception of the new camera button, the iPhone 17 Pro only seems to be different in the ways that it is worse.
