JLab GO POP USB Webcam - Black: 1080p Video, Plug & Play, No Microphone

I have been using this camera for six months, leaving it atop my monitor at home, and just changing out whether it was plugged into my desktop or work laptop. It worked fine while it did, but suddenly it first turned on but no video feed, and now it doesn't even show the power light while plugged in. Even at this price point I'd stay away from this one.

A decently priced webcam that does work with Linux, but the video quality has more grain then I was expecting from a 1080p webcam. but the fact it works with Linux is not something that can be said about a fair number of webcams.

The packaging was easy to open without scissors which was a plus. It was so easy to hook up and use. If you dont have a cam in your computer get this webcam.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Packing Simple and clean aesthetics. There is no manual inside. You need to QR scan it to get to the website and download the manual. Exterior Design The camera is very small and compact. It can easily be stored away in a bag for travel. I imagine a use case would be to connect the camera to a laptop in order to have a better video conferencing capability than the built in laptop camera and microphone. Compared to my Logitech vu0028 the JLAB POPCAM is only half the size horizontally and the built in mount takes up less space in the back. Speaking of mounting the camera does have rubber to help it stay put but there needs to be rubber where the camera touches the edge of your monitor or laptop. As it is right now the camera mounting feels flimsy. Performance The camera has the standard specifications one expects of a 1080P 30FPS camera and is very similar to the Logitech vu0028 I have owned for several years. In terms of the picture performance both photos and videos are clearer than Logitech vu0028. I tested both the camera and video using the Camera app in Windows 11 to ensure internet bandwidth would not be a factor in evaluation of image quality. The image is brightly lit even in low light conditions. My face is lit up brightly and the background is clear. It is even easy to make out details in dark elements such as my black speakers. There is grain but it is very fine so I don't notice it. Overall I am impressed by the image quality on hand for a 1080P 30 FPS camera. The performance for the low price is great. In regards to sound I could not find any option to enable microphone input from the camera in Windows. So my recording with the camera doesn't have any sound. I read the manual and there is no mention of additional firmware needed to enable sound either. Nothing about microphone sound is mentioned on the product page either. I also could not find a hole for a microphone physical on the device so perhaps it doesn't exist. I assume people who buy this camera will use another microphone in bult to their laptop or another sound input device such as a headset.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I wish I could give a legitimate review of this product, but in order to give a legitimate review I would have had to have been able to use it. But I plugged it into my computer, and it did not appear in my devices, the device itself did not come with any instructions and I could not find product support on the jlab website. I can't make it work. And absolute disappointment, but for a $25 webcam, I guess not much was to be expected.

I use it to stream, and since it has low latency and relatively high video clarity, it is very pleasant to use. The privacy shutter is also a great feature of the webcam and I use it pretty often when i’m not using the webcam that often. Overall I highly recommend this webcam!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The webcam is compact and has decent quality so it’s good for on the go. The cable is USB-A tho so it might not be compatible with modern laptops with USB-C port only. It also comes with a webcam cover for privacy when not in use.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Tho webcam is great because you can move it around to the face the front or back of your laptop or computer. My favorite feature is the privacy cover since my laptop doesn’t have that option. It’s also very easy to set up and is good quality.
