Good quality, stinky scent
I used to love the original Brilliant Brunette 20+ years ago. They changed the scent some years back, and it's no longer a warm caramel scent, it's more of a musky amber super-floral scent, which I do not find appealing, so I stopped using it. I saw they came out with this Midnight line, and i've been using it. As far as quality, I like it. It still has that horrible, super-strong floral perfume scent, though, which is a definite bummer. It makes me not use it nearly as frequently as I'd like to.

Very Drying
This is not curly-girl-approved as it contains silicones, Dimethicone Dimethiconol, Amodimethicone. Although I do like the color tint that this gave my light brown hair, it is very drying, It may work if you already have oily hair, but for someone like me who has dry, wavy/fine hair, this made my hair drier, It may work if you use a good leave-in conditioner, I did not try it again because it does have a strong smell and I am very sensitive to certain scents.

NOT color safe
I trusted the label when it said it was for colored hair. I didn't bother to read the ingredients, which are basically a ton of different kinds of sulfates, which my colorist had told me to stay away from. One use of this stuff and my hair turned orange. Awful!

I stopped coloring my hair over 8 years ago and my natural brown has more of a grey/silver undertone. I wanted to deeper my color without using actual hair dye. It has a super strong fragrance but it wasn’t bothersome to me. My hair did look different after one wash & I’m excited to see how it looks after a couple washes. I have curly hair so I did notice my hair got more oily the following days.

Shine and Smooth
My hair has never been so shiny and smooth, this product literally brings out the color/highlights I have.. I only gave it 4 stars however because of the fragrance.. please tone it down a notch, it is pretty strong and a bit "masculine" to my taste

Fade My Color
I gave this shampoo two stars because it does leave hair shiny and silky. In fact, it would be a fine clarifying shampoo, but as far as color goes, it did the opposite of what it claims. Instead of making my hair appear darker, it washed out much of the semi-permanent brunette color that was on my hair leaving it a shade light. I am annoyed that I now have to color it earlier than I would otherwise have had to do.

This worked pretty well (along with the shampoo) on my 20% gray hair, giving a nicely highlighted look - but is FABULOUS when combined with light brown henna, which I started using a few months ago. Tones down the slight red, which I don't care for, and - wow. Let's just say I have very expensive looking hair. I happen to love the chocolaty smell, by the way. I just wish it was easier to find -- only on-line in Washington DC? Come ON!!!

I think it may gradually deepen the color but I do not see a significant difference (however my hair is dark brown so maybe it is hard to tell). It leaves my hair soft enough that it is not too tangly (which can be a problem having fine, long hair). Overall I would buy again but it's not a must-have product for me.
