Description

The Joovy Caboose Too Ultralight Double Stroller has all of the same great features as our Caboose Ultralight Graphite stroller PLUS, it includes a full-size rear seat.

The full-size rear seat is removable and accommodates children too young (under 2.5 years) to use the rear bench seat and standing platform. The full-size rear seat has a multi-position recline and holds a child from 6 months to 45 lbs.

The front seat accommodates a child from 3 months to 45 lbs and reclines to 3-positions. Max child weight in the stroller is 90 lbs. When strolling with an infant, creating a travel system with the included universal car seat adapter is easy.

The large canopy provides ample coverage, and the rear canopy extension covers the rear child when seated. Linked parking brakes and the all-wheel suspension offer your kids a smooth ride. The included parent organizer holds two beverages and has a zippered pocket for keys, wallet, or phone.

The Caboose Too Ultralight is exceptionally compact and lightweight. Weighing in at just over 21 pounds without the rear seat and just over 23 pounds with the rear seat installed. The lightweight combined with its small footprint and sealed ball-bearing wheels makes the Caboose Too Ultralight Graphite extremely maneuverable - especially for a double stroller.

Q: It lists that it comes with a "universal" car seat adapter yet I'm seeing a lot of Q&A where you say its not compatible with certain car seats? So the adapter is NOT universal?

submitted by MamaStruck - 6 years ago
  • A: The Joovy Caboose Too Ultralight Stroller has a universal car seat included. This means that the adapter is compatible with a number of different makers and models of car seats. This adapter allows the car seat to nest down into the adapter and seat with the car seat NOT clicking into something, making it universal.

  • A: Yes, the Caboose Ultralight parent organizer has a piece of fabric that zips to the back of the canopy to provide shade for the child in the rear seat/bench. The canopy will not go back enough to cover the child in the rear.

Great for Very Specific Things Only

This is a stroller with one job, to comfortably fit into tight spaces. It probably shouldn't be your primary stroller, but for taking the bus, navigating narrow corridors, or going to theme parks, this is The One. I have two heavy toddlers, and larger double strollers are a nightmare on crowded buses. This one is compact, reasonably maneuverable once you get the knack of it, and pretty light. (Especially if you leave off accessories you might not need, like the single snack tray and canopy.) I wear a diaper bag backpack with everything we need for our outing, and the minuscule and inaccessible storage basket is only used for feet and maybe baby jackets or hats when they're not being worn. It's easy to lift up the front wheels for boarding a bus, and de-boarding going backwards is similarly straightforward. We have a fancy wagon which we use for most walking trips but I need the option to take the bus and this makes it stress-free. Unboxing and setup took me about an hour, but wasn't too hard.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This was the first stroller i had ever gotten from Joovy and it was such a game changer. Alot of strollers are bulky and hard to get around most places, this stroller was SO EASY to get in and out of anywhere! It is very lightweight and perfect for any occasion.

Keep shopping.

This stroller was fine until we actually needed to put two kids in it. If you’re just going to use it for walks around your neighborhood, it’s fine. If you want to actually go anywhere with your stroller, keep shopping. This ain’t it. Pros: -Very compact -Lightweight for a double -Comfortable seats -Good tray table in front -Fits in a car trunk with the tray and canopy removed Cons: -Absolutely no storage except for cupholders. If a second child is riding, the storage basket underneath will only fit their feet. -If you use the cupholders, your cups will block your grip. -The handles are almost at a 90° angle perpendicular to the ground and non-adjustable. If you hang a diaper bag from them, the rear child cannot recline. -If you recline the front seat for a nap, there is no room for another child to sit in the rear. -You cannot push the canopy back behind the rear child. It collapses together but still blocks the view of the child in back. It is removable, but there’s nowhere to put it, because there’s absolutely no storage. -You have to manually latch it once it’s collapsed. It doesn’t stay collapsed otherwise. It’s nearly impossible to do one-handed. I almost always have to do this while holding one of my children, and it’s very challenging to hold a baby, hold the stroller together, and secure the latch. -Once it’s collapsed, there’s no kick stand or any way to hold it upright. I think you’re intended to just lay it all the way on the ground, which is impractical for when you’re boarding a bus or train. It also gets it dirty, and the fabric on our canopy has ripped from being laid on the ground. -If you need to carry it (e.g., collapsing it to go up stairs), you’ll need two hands. I don’t think I could carry it in one hand and carry my child in the other arm, because there’s not a good place to grab the stroller. -It’s very hard to turn or swerve with two children in it. All in all, it’s a pretty good ride for the kid in the front. Mostly it’s just been frustrating. We’ve taken it to NYC, Disneyland, and the Grand Canyon, and it makes an already physically demanding experience worse instead of better. Wow I wish I’d bought something else.
1 reply from Joovy Customer Support team - 2 years ago
Hi, we think you’ve missed the point of what the Caboose Ultralight is all about. This stroller was designed for a toddler who is becoming more and more independent and is not riding on the stroller 100% of the time, and has the option to hop on when tired. It is purposefully designed to be super compact and lightweight therefore you will lose some storage space. There is limited room in the back seat when the front seat is reclined but that is when the standing platform becomes a great option. The other cons you have listed would be the same for most double strollers in the market when using in the city, traveling, or when boarding a bus or a train.

We really like this stroller. We have a 3 month old and a 2 1/2 year old, and he loves to jump on the platform when it’s time to go. Our one (big) complaint is that the snaps are so hard to snap and unsnap. The storage underneath is a nightmare to try to get in things in and out of. We are going to try to sew Velcro on it to make it easier. Other than that, it’s a good stroller.

Just What I Need

Joovy Caboose Too Ultralight is awesome! It's light weight when folded and perfect for my newborn and toddler. My toddler and I love the standing position and I also like the seat/buckle option too. Additionally, I purchased the second seat for my toddler and keep it in my car if I want him seated, depending on the outing. My newborn carseat fits right in the stroller slot; it's slightly problematic for getting my newborn in and out of the seat, but I anticipated it wouldn't be perfect since it is from another brand. The storage at the bottom is a little tight for my diaper backpack but I've managed to squeeze it in. Overall, it is a great purchase!

Very happy with this stroller so far. Have been using it for over a week and really like hiw smoothly it handles, for a compact stroller. Lightweight for all it's features too. Folds up easily and to a great small profile. Only 'complaint' is about lower storage, the basket is small and with a child using the back seat it basically becomes unusable, minor inconvenience. We have switched and put the younger child in the back as the eldest decided to slide down and push his feet right to the bottom of the basket while it was in motion and tore a hole in the bottom, lol. Would definitely recommend :)

Jacki - 6 years ago, Verified purchaser
We've been using our Joovy Caboose Too ultralight for a few weeks now. The kids that use the stroller are 2 years old (28 lbs) and 10 months old (18 lbs). Our main use for the stroller is inside stores. So first I will say what I like about the stroller: -the sunshade is a very nice size and very easy to use. The back zip on shade isn't huge but it does provide good coverage for the tip of the childs head. -the seats are a nice height and width. The buckles are 5 point harnesses and easy to use. -the handlebar is a good height for myself (5'2") as well as my husband (6') -the fold and unfold is very simple and it folds up pretty compact in my opinion. -I like that we have the option of removing the second seat when my 2 year old gets a little older and can use the sit and stand feature. -it is very narrow and not super long front to back. Now here are some things I don't like: -it is not truly as lightweight as the manufacturer claims...It weighs about 28 pounds with everything attached to it that comes with. It's not overly heavy but I was slightly disappointed to find that it's a good 5 pounds heavier than advertised. -the wheels feel very cheap. I wish they were more rugged or at least a foam filled rubber. -there's no footrest for the child in the back so their feet just dangle in the basket and you lose that storage space. -the understorage basket is VERY cheap and flimsy!! There's no support on the bottom so whenever you put something in it the basket sags and rubs on the ground. Also if your child in back is bigger than an infant they will be able to push down on the basket with their feet and it can rip the basket easily. I cut a school 3 ring binder in half and put that in the bottom of the basket to add support and it helps. My daughter can still push with her feet and make the basket rub on the front wheels though which is also annoying. -the push is mediocre at best. This is where you get what you pay for. If you've used any of the high end strollers then you definitely will not be impressed with this push! I can feel all the weight of my little girls when I am pushing. The turn radius is also not very good. Going over bumps in the sidewalk is difficult and gives my girls quite a jolt because of the lack of suspension. The only way to get it to pop up over curbs is if you put your foot on the standing platform and push wheel you are pushing down on the handlebar. -the push through grass, gravel, or even rough sidewalks is a joke! Feels like you're pushing a fully loaded bus. Overall, for my needs I am satisfied with the stroller. This definitely wouldn't work as an all purpose stroller for us though. For quick trips in the store when I want both of my smaller kids contained it works just fine. I don't feel like the stroller is quite worth the price tag but I did manage to get it on sale and also used my RED card for additional savings.

Fabulous stroller!!!..... couldn't be happier its everything I needed and hoped for....love that it's so lightweight I'm yet very durable!!!...my last sit and stand was ok but was so heavy and big to travel with and it didn't fit in my trunk!!...but now my joovy fits perfectly and isn't a work out in itself traveling with it ...I have 6 kids so any less of anything to go out and about with is awesome!!!..also to make it even greater myself as well as my 3yo love the fact that she's actually in a seat in the back instead of just the bench which was nerve-wracking and stressful if a nap was needed so now both our minds are at ease.....I just can't praise this stroller enough as well as the creative people at joovy who thought of every scenario and detail to make such a satisfying product!!!!....5 stars to you all and my super stylish stroller which is also another plus!!!..... highly recommended to everyone!!!

I do not even know where to start... Unfortunately I am unable to return it because I bought it when I was pregnant and did not actually use it for abut four months. By the time I used it, it was too late to return. You can only put the infant car seat in the front, making a very small and uncomfortable space for my toddler in the back. The weight of it makes it almost impossible to turn, my husband usually has to push it because it is way too heavy for me and even he complains. Within a couple times of using it, my toddler ripped through the built in basket where she rests her feet and they hit the ground. Even if it wasn't ripped, storing things in it is not possible because her feet take all the space. I called the company and only a machine answers. I left them voice mails and they have never returned my call. It was just a waste of money and we now have no use for it. Oh, and the drink holder on top is a joke... unless you have a sealed water bottle, use it. But don't think about putting a cup with a straw or hot coffee because it will tip over and shower your kid at the bottom. The holder is made of elastic and it's not secure at all. Please do not purchase this, you will regret it.

I have only used it a few times but so far it is meeting my needs. Putting in and taking the seat out is a little more of a process than I thought it would be, but I am sure once I do it a few times it will get easier. My stride is a little too long for it, I wish the handle reclined a little more. It’s very lightweight and folds easily, though, so I am pleased with it.

So far, so good. The universal car seat adapter really surprised me. I also love the different seat options for the back rider as well as the canopy for both of my kids. The basket is honestly not even usable. It’s nearly impossible to reach things down there when my kid is in the back seat. My toddler likes it though, because she tries to steal things from the store. She knows that mommy literally cannot see anything or reach anything down there. Don’t worry though, she doesn’t actually steal. Also, my toddler tore the basket on the first day we used the stroller. When sitting in the back she pressed her feet down in the parking lot and let them drag. Really poor design there, Joovy. A storage option should have been designed on the back of the seat, similar to a back seat organizer for a car. Otherwise, it is a really nice option for a double stroller that isn’t over $600.

Good size. Not too long for a double stroller and it is narrow. I don’t like how it’s not easy to fold and unfold. Doesn’t fit well in the back of a Tahoe without taking the car seat adaptor off and sun shade. The second seat is very very small when you have a car seat in the front seat

Still waiting on baby #2, so haven’t experienced using the stroller with a car seat attached yet. We started using it as soon as we received it, so we could be use to it by the time baby gets here. My 3 year old loves the bench seat. The basket is on the smaller side and harder to get to (at least in comparison to my huge jogging stroller)... but I knew that when buying an ultralight stroller. There is plenty of room for drinks, phone storage, etc, on the handle part of the stroller. A negative is that your feet/ankles may clash with the bottom part of the stroller where the back riders feet go. Also, it’s a bit hard to steer, but only with drinks in the adult cup holders... this is due to having too narrow of hand placement to make easy turns. We have yet to use the forward facing backseat, but have tested taking it on and off, which seems easy enough to do. We’ve tested our Graco car seat in it with the adapter and it too seems easy enough to use. Will update my review when baby comes.
