It broke, the inside gears are made of cheap plastic. So the turner broke and its useless. It was not even that cheap. I contacted the company and they never got back to me. Never buying Kitchen Aid anything. I had to buy a Japanese can opener bc all this USA openers are crappie! So sad

Stopped working after being barely used, only 4 months after purchasing, just outside the return window. Very frustrating

My old can opener lasted for many years. When it finally quit working, I replaced it with the same one expecting the same quality. Sadly, the current opener lasted less than a year.
Rusty Musty

Disgusting health hazzard. In less than two weeks, rust has formed at the handle spring because water gets trapped between the silicone and the metal. Normal hand washing is enough to have water get under the silicone and not dry out. We noticed this when we took it out of the drawer and water was dripping out from the handle area. It doesn't have a good bite or grab on cans either. It's all wishy washy. How embarrassing will it be to go into the store to return a wet rusty can opener? "Nothing like the taste of rust and old water when you are trying to eat a can of soup." Just buy the cheap can opener. At least you'll know what to expect.

I purchased this opener in February and just threw it away today. It was never easy to 'click' onto the can, but is totally broken now and is no longer functional. Try a different model and avoid the frustration.

It is incredible how one small inexpensive gadget can be the source of so much frustration. Sometimes it works, most often it doesn’t. This is the worst can opener I have ever used. I tossed it in the trash today to guarantee I finally replace it and end this.
Kitchen Aid, I'm not mad. I'm just disappointed.

This had me questioning if I knew how to use a can opener. I do, it’s just a piece of garbage. Threw it away after two attempted uses. Dropping a $20 on the ground would be a better use of a $20 than buying this can opener.

I would give this no stars if I could. Two previous reviews hit the nail on the head. I have only used mine a handful of times but now it is useless. It will not grip the can so I can turn the knob to cut into the clid. One of the previous reviews said his fell apart and he found a broken plastic piece in the turning mechanism. While mine did not fall apart, I believe that is most likely what happened. The other review was also correct in that there is no magnet to hold the lid it won't cut.

Don’t waste your money. Didn’t work from the start. Requires a lot of effort to get the blade to engage the can and then drops can half way through opening. Threw it away a replaced it with a cheap one that work way better.

This felt sturdy and had a good name on it, but it worked for just a few weeks and is now a paperweight. Won't stay in the groove. Won't crank. I've made many messes and many near misses in slicing open my finger. Do not buy.

This just randomly stopped working within 3-4 months of occasional use. The gears literally won’t move anymore. This was replacing one that lasted decades, so it was super annoying to spend this much on one that broke so quickly. It was too late to return.
Broke third time I used it

The handle that twists fell off the third time I used it. At first, I thought its new, maybe I can tighten something and fix it, but all the metal pieces work well, but the flimsy inner plastic in the handle that attaches to the crank craked, making the whole device useless.
