A: The Spatter Cover can be removed from the microwave by lifting from the sides of the cover or using the handle in the center, the handle is 5/8" deep.

I purchased this at Target and it works very well at keeping the voen clean. I did make a few extra holes, because when using it over a bowl of soup, the existing vents were out farther than the diameter of the bowl. I wish it were taller because the indent of the handle sometimes touches the food, which is messy if cheese is involved. I had this for several years.
