Q: Is the cord the only part that causes the prop65 warning? The earlier answer did not answer this specifically. Yes the cord causes prop 66 warning, but are there more parts that cause this warning as well?
submitted by Kate - 5 years ago
A: Chlorinated Paraffins leaking from the componentry is the likeliest reason for Prop 65 warning.
submitted byKatya - 2 years ago
A: Hi Kate, The warning in your Use and Care Guide is printed in order for Whirlpool Corporation to be in compliance with California state law. In the State of California there exists what is referred to "Proposition 65." Proposition 65 is the California Safe Drinking and Water and Toxic Enforcement Act of 1986. Any company that operates in California, sells its products in California or manufactures products that may be sold or brought into California is subject to Proposition 65. Since our products are sold in California, Proposition 65 applies to us.
Proposition 65 requires warning labels on any product that may contain or produce any of the 600-plus elements that the California Air Resources Board considers carcinogenic or a reproductive toxicant. These elements include lead (contained in the solder used to attach electronic parts to the printed circuit boards), brass, PVC and a multitude of other everyday elements and gas products burn fuels (natural gas or propane) that contain trace levels of chemicals on the list. This list also contains a wide range of naturally occurring and synthetic chemicals, including common household products, foods, drugs, dyes and solvents.
Whirlpool is committed to manufacturing safe and high quality appliances, as we always have done. Should any product contain or produce even the slightest amounts of chemicals on the list, even when accepted and regulated concentrations are not exceeded, Whirlpool will liberally warn consumers even though we fully comply with the Act.

Disappointing
Good hand blender but unfortunately it stopped working after 18 months. Probably used less than a couple of dozen times. Not worth the expensive price tag given it didn’t last…

Quiet and works well!
The immersion blender works very well, is relatively quiet compared to others I have used, and is a pretty color too! It makes making a smoothie or a sauce so simple and quick.

Great features
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought this explicitly for the pot protection feature. It’s amazing how such a small add on can solve a huge problem. Now I have no concerns using my stick blender in my expensive stainless steel and enameled cast iron pots. No more transferring batches of hot soup into the upright blender means less mess and much easier cooking.

We are thrilled you love the pan guard for protecting your pots! It is fantastic to hear it has solved such a huge problem and is making your cooking so much cleaner and easier. We are glad you can now use your stick blender in your favourite enamelled pots with total peace of mind. Happy cooking! 🥘✨

Quality and bang for your buck
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I was being a cheap husband last Christmas and bought a cheap hand mixer as a gift for my wife, (who asked for one). It broke after the second use. Needless to say, you get what you pay for. So, to replace it I bought a Kitchen Aid mixer to match her Kitchen aid blender/processor. And it's great for what we do in the kitchen. I make a lot of soups. Perfect. Smoothies for breakfast? Excellent. Next time I won't be so cheap.

Brilliant blender!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This little hand blender is amazing! It does soup or dips in under a minute. It gets more use than just about anyting else in my kitchen now. The ONLY issue is the click on blade guard - it's terrible. The only use case for it really though, is if you're using a glass or fragile ceramic container that might be subject to the vibrations and break, so avoid those, and the guard is a non-issue anyway.

Wow, not great
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] First off, it's heavy. Given it's a plastic case, I'm guessing that's because of the motor is where the weight is coming from. Not sure adding more steel to the case of the motor is a sign of quality, but time will tell I guess. It does what any kmart mixer does, but 5x the price - but flashier I guess! The seal on the shaft leaks and needs attention when washing as it can let debris from the dishwasher/sink into the next recipe! I bought this brand/model thinking that seal would actually fix this common issue with most stick mixers. But sadly, no. There are no replacement bits, At ALL. DON'T ASK. Which makes me feel sick as a consumer (knowing that parts are available on AliExpress). The variable speed control just screams of future issues and warranty claims for the 12 month warranty (yay, 'built to last'). Actually, it does one thing the kmart one I have doesn't do, it throfts the milk far more than it needs to. So much so that I have to wait half an hour for it to subside before I can move on with my recipes. I won't buy again, but if you want to burn money, go right ahead. Honestly, kinda looking for a refund, so poorly designed and not what I thought I was getting via the advertising.

My new Kitchenaid Variable Speed Hand Blender is a fantastic replacement and is a quality product which is what I wanted! Hopefully I'll be able to pass mine on 40 years times! I love the colour matches my stand mixer too❣️

Can’t use for more than two minutes
Bought this a few weeks ago and finally used it last night for soup. Blended for about two minutes before the engine failed and the blades stopped spinning. I let the device rest for a couple of minutes, plugged and unplugged, tried again. It failed in under a minute. I figured I was using it wrong - was the soup too hot? I let the soup cool completely for hours before going back to try again, and in less than two minutes it fails again. Took me half an hour to blend my soup due to the device failing over and over again. Please, this must be a defect right? There’s no way a kitchen appliance should be expected to have a cool down after under two minutes of use? Would like to either replace or return.

Handy
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I tried it for the first time in the new year and the black plastic protective attachment broke into small pieces thus I have to pour the entire smoothie into the waste. I wasn’t applying undue force and the smoothie was banana, yogurt, cut up dates and milk. I wasn’t expecting a brand new appliance to fail so quickly. Now I use it without the protective cover..other than that, it seems to work fine.

Happy I bought it!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I've bought this hand blender along with a Kitchenaid hand mixer mixer a few weeks ago. Have wanted one for years after buying a Kitchenaid Stand mixer. Used a number of times in the lead up to Christmas and has worked seamlessly. Would definitely recommend to anyone considering a purchase.

Great, but missing one thing!
We are pretty happy with our KitchenAid hand blender. It works great, enough power to do what is needed. Its great for mixing ingredients for gravy as it turns out nice, thick and creamy with NO lumps! The only thing we would like to see sold with it is a STURDY STAND. We use it everyday and don't want to keep it in a drawer. Its handy right on the counter top but with no stand, there isn't a good place to store it within reach.
