Description

I always recommend that my clients come to get glossed and toned between salon visits to extend the life of their color. I’m finally able to give them, and you, something that is easy to use at home. This in-shower treatment is formulated to instantly boost vibrancy and shine, while neutralizing warmth on color treated or natural bronde (between dark blonde and light brown) hair. It will help you keep your color looking fresh, shiny and healthy between appointments.

Choose this color if you have dark blonde or light brown hair (aka: bronde) and want to neutralize or tone down warmth.

HOW TO:
(Read all instructions thoroughly before glossing your hair)
1. wet your hair thoroughly in the shower.
2. mix bottle 1 and 2 together, shake gently and apply all over.
3. wait 10-20 minutes, depending on the result you want, then rinse thoroughly.
4. shampoo and condition as usual.

VIBRANCY BOOSTING TECHNOLOGY:
creates a protective shield over the hair to instantly boost shine and
help lock-in your color.

ANTI-OXIDANT COMPLEX:
smooths and softens hair from root to tip making hair more
manageable.

ALKALINE NEUTRALIZING SYSTEM:
protects from color fading by preventing hard water minerals from
being deposited onto the hair and scalp.

WHO NEEDS THIS?
anyone with dark blonde or light
brown hair (aka: bronde) looking to
tone down warmth and enhance
shine.

WHAT IS IT?
in-shower treatment that nourishes
strands and restores vibrancy.

WHEN DO I USE IT?
in-between salon visits or any time
your hair color looks too warm
or “brassy”.

WILL IT COVER gray HAIR?
ammonia-free formula will not lift,
lighten or cover grays.

IS IT PERMANENT?
color lasts 3-4 weeks and will
gradually fade, depending on how
often you shampoo

Color + keratin safe.

Q: Is your hair gloss sulfate free?

submitted by Shelly - 4 years ago
  • A: Thank you for your question. Some of the shades are sulfate free, but the Smoky Topaz Hair Gloss is not sulfate free.

Q: Can this be used to darken blonde hair?

submitted by AC - 4 years ago
  • A: Thanks for your question! The Smoky Topaz is best used to neutralize warmth in blonde tones but will not darken the hair. The Signature Hair Glosses should not be used as traditional hair dye as the product is a toning treatment that will enhance the tones in your hair.

Q: Why would this color NOT cover gray hair?

submitted by EmJay - 4 years ago
  • A: Thanks for the question! To clarify, our glosses are not hair dye, rather the gloss formula is made to tone hair by neutralizing or adding warmth to your hair color. Hope this helps!

Q: How often can I use this product?

submitted by A - 5 years ago
  • A: Thanks for the question! The effects of Signature Gloss will last 3-4 weeks depending on how often you shampoo. It can be used as often as desired but should only be used when needed to neutralize/add warmth between salon visits. Hope this helps!

Q: Is this a hair Color for your hair and how long will it last

submitted by Gabby - 5 years ago
  • A: Thanks for the question! Our Signature Gloss is an in-shower treatment that nourishes hair while adding tone or neutralizing warmth. The color will gradually fade over 3-4 weeks. Hope this helps!

Q: My current color is a dark golden blonde since any light brown colors turn my hair very dark brown. I do have a lot of gray and I’d like some shine, which I don’t have currently and some gold highlights. Is your product going to help?

submitted by Charli - 5 years ago
  • A: Thanks for your question! The Signature Glosses do not cover grey hair but will help with the shine. I would suggest starting with one of the lighter blonde shades first (Golden Hour if you like gold tones, Winter Wheat if you want less gold tones), then doing a test strand on a light piece before moving forward with the full gloss. Then if you feel like you want it a little darker, try one of the “bronde” shades (Smokey Topaz or Tortoise Shell) next time of course doing a test strand again before doing the full gloss.

submitted by Rhonda - 5 years ago
  • A: Thanks for your question! The Signature Glosses are cruelty free, color + keratin safe, silicone-free and ammonia-free. For additional product information, please visit www.kristinesshair.com.

submitted by emberg - 5 years ago
  • A: 3-4 weeks- it says it at the very bottom of the box :)

Q: Is this safe to use while pregnant?

submitted by J 1 - 5 years ago
  • A: Thanks for your question and we get asked this a lot! All products are in compliance with the rules and regulations set by the US FDA, and use ingredients at safe levels as determined the Cosmetic Ingredient Review (CIR). While we do not test products on pregnant women, we would recommend all women who are pregnant who have concerns with the products they are using reach out directly to their physician before using any personal care product.

I keep coming back to this because I feel like it sometimes works and sometimes doesn’t, maybe depends on the weather or stage my hair is in…but what I do really love is that it contains zero sulfates and zero silicones so it can’t be hurting anything!

I initially bought this to even out some bleached streaks in my hair. I have now bought this over 3 times because it's so good! I have natural red hair but it tends to be more muted, so I use this gloss in the Summer months because it adds more depth. It's super easy to use, lasts for a few weeks, and when it fades out of your hair it's so subtle! I will probably continue to use this product for a long time!

Love this gloss! As a gal with light curls I like to do everything I can to preserve them. I do not bleach my hair, nor have I done anything but semi permanent conditioner based dyes, (overtone is my tried and true) but I do love a warmer color in my hair. I have used this gloss twice now and enjoy it each time. Super fast and easy application, fades well and slowly. My hair goes from mousey to auburn, difficult to photograph but so clear irl. As someone already dealing with hair loss, I have experienced less hair loss after using this product, absolutely not more. My only complaint is that I only need about 1/5 of the bottle, so I feel like I’m wasting a ton of product since it apparently doesn’t keep— I so wish the bottles were formulated for multiple uses. Mirror photo is before, peace sign is after.

This does not wash out! I used a box of chocolate cosmo back in January and it has not washed out even with daily shampoos! My hair is still the same shade but now it has a very unnatural, red undertone whereas my virgin hair has warm gold undertones. It looks absolutely awful. I thought this would be a good way to experiment with less permanent shades rather than fully dying it, but I was wrong.

Tried the chocolate color on my light brown hair that was turning brassy. Followed the instructions exactly and now my hair is black and damaged. Not what I was expecting at all. Been washing my hair with dish soap to try and get any of it out and it’s coming out ginger. Do not recommend. I probably need to shave my hair at this point because it is that damaged.

Bittersweet will lean your hair more black than brown. Also the other reviews about hair loss is true! Lost quite a bit of hair just letting this mixture sit for 15 minutes. Be careful! Results are pretty though, but definitely concerning.

I’ve used the smoky topaz twice with subtle results on my balayage (“bronde” in color, roots mid-dark brown)This time, I thought to try the Chocolate Cosmo color as it was the next shade up and matched my roots. Big mistake - my hair is now very dark brown borderline black. The results are nearly identical to those shown for the “Bittersweet” color. While Smoky Topaz was okay, my experience with Chocolate Cosmo means I won’t but again nor do I recommend this product.

YOUR HAIR WILL FALL OUT

Limasierr97 - 22 days ago, Verified purchaser
So first off, I have very healthy hair. I do not treat it with chemicals, and I rarely use heat (like twice in the last 6 months). I bought this hoping for a little bit more shine and pigment, thinking it wouldn’t hurt to try. I used it in my hair about 4 days ago. Applying it in the shower left everything a mess, and despite rinsing the shower as I applied, I still have stains from it. I left it on for the shorter time of 10 minutes. After the shower, I noticed my hair felt pretty dry so I used some of my go to leave in conditioner. I didn’t notice a drastic difference other than a slightly darker tint in the ends of my hair. When I brushed through the hair after air drying, I noticed some fallout. It didn’t raise alarm bells for me then, but it kept happening. I use silk scrunchies, and even with those I would keep getting fallout and breakage. I would run my fingers through my dry hair and get a handful of hairs. I have had this happen like 3 times since then, and my hair feels thinner. I’m looking at having to get a hair cut for my new “layers” I didn’t want to have. Thanks for giving me some hair loss instead of gloss I guess.

This product is great especially for the price. It added gloss and shine to my hair and a little boost in color. It lasted a long time and fades nicely. It was messy to apply.

Wanted to Like This

I wanted really badly to like this product. I’m a huge Kristin Ess fan and swear by all her products and hair tools. I attempted to use this gloss to correct the color of my hair a bit after reading some reviews and seeing videos where the person’s hair color darkens quite a bit, which was exactly the effect I was looking for. Even the instructions advertise a method for creating an ombré effect so I figured this would be a no brained. I tried this product twice - the first time it didn’t work I blamed myself for not keeping it on long enough. I purchased it again and left it on longer and did the ombré application. I was surprised that my hair looked virtually the same as before, just shinier. Maybe I need to try a darker shade, but I fear it may be too dark. I may have to bite the bullet and just get a toner. If you’re looking to change the color of your hair - this isn’t the right product. But as with most KE products, this one isn’t harsh, it’s easy to use, and left nice shine (gloss) in my hair.

This turned my dark brown hair almost black and basically looked awful. I followed the instructions to the letter. Have never had such a bad at home experience. My hair girl had to fix! I talked to a friend and she had the same issue-be cautious of color. Oh and it didn’t even hydrate my hair or give me shine!

So I don’t usually write reviews anymore but I did for this product. I gave it a chance because some reviews were great, but I should have listened to the ones warning me. I liked the initi outcome at first, but within a few weeks I noticed that it made my hair look so frizzy, broken, and dry. I am so upset because my hair has never looked this bad. My hair is typically very shiny and smooth and this made it look so damaged. I suggest you avoid this at all costs.

I would rate this zero stars if I could. I tried the chocolate cosmo glaze expecting a light warm glaze as described and pictured on the box but when I went to wash and dry my hair was dyed black. More specifically, the front pieces of my hair while the rest were a mix of black and dark brown and a million other shades. I cried after trying to shampoo it out with 30 washes with a clarifying shampoo. It did not budge. My hairdresser had to use a color remover and bleach to lighten the color. Do not recommend unless your wanting black box dye.

I purchased the Chocolate Cosmo thinking I would have a dark brown result. I left the toner on for about 20 minutes as it says, and my hair turned black. Good thing that’s my natural hair color or else this could have been a bigger shock. For anyone wanting to try this color, maybe look into other options. Thankfully it’ll wash out over time. My hair isn’t dry like other reviews say, my hair looks very shiny and soft luckily.
