Description

I always recommend that my clients come to get glossed and toned
between salon visits to extend the life of their color. I’m finally able
to give them, and you, something that is easy to use at home. This
in-shower treatment is formulated to instantly boost vibrancy and
shine, while neutralizing warmth on color treated or natural light
blonde hair. It will help you keep your color looking fresh, shiny and
healthy between appointments.

Choose this color if you have light blonde hair and want to neutralize or tone down warmth.

HOW TO:
(Read all instructions thoroughly before glossing your hair)
1. wet your hair thoroughly in the shower.
2. mix bottle 1 and 2 together, shake gently and apply all over.
3. wait 10-20 minutes, depending on the result you want, then rinse thoroughly.
4. shampoo and condition as usual.

VIBRANCY BOOSTING TECHNOLOGY:
Creates a protective shield over the hair to instantly boost shine and help lock-in your color.

ANTI-OXIDANT COMPLEX:
Smooths and softens hair from root to tip making hair more manageable.

ALKALINE NEUTRALIZING SYSTEM:
Protects from color fading by preventing hard water minerals from being deposited onto the hair and scalp.

Q: I'm a natural re head and want to tone down the warmth. Would Winter Wheat be appropriate/safe to try?

submitted by Mum23 - 9 months ago
  • A: Hello Mum23! Winter Wheat is best if you have light blonde hair and want to neutralize or tone down warmth. We hope this helps!

submitted byTarget Beauty Consulting - 9 months ago
    Brand expert
  • A: Hello! We would strongly advise to stay within your color family when using our toning glosses. The Winter Wheat is recommended for light blonde hair and will likely not have any affect on your red hair. We would suggest our Purple Shampoo and Conditioner to help tone the brassiness. Hope this helps!

Q: I've been using the celestial skies conditioner & I'd like to switch to pink/purple. Im interested in the wild berry gloss. I'm worried that it might look terrible because Celestial Skies fades in my hair to a greenish brown. Any recommendations/advice?

submitted by Ellie H - 10 months ago
  • A: Hello! We highly recommend allowing the Celestial Skies shade to fade completely before applying our toning gloss. The Wild Berry is formulated for brown hair and for the best results, it is highly advised to ensure the base is brown prior to using this specific toning gloss. Hope this helps!

Q: Does Kristin Ess Signature Hair Gloss have a strong smell? I'm sensitive to fragrance.

submitted by Rivergirl - 3 years ago
  • A: No, it was not bad at all. I used it and then went to bed and I did not wake up all night to a WEIRD smell as I would when I used hair dye. there is, of course a smell while you are using it, while it is on your head, but it is not "fumey" and not horrible. You are instructed to wash your hair after rinsing the product out, so that may be why the lingering smell was not strong or bad.

submitted byCanyon Gal - 3 years ago
  • A: Thanks for your question! The Signature Hair Glosses do not have any added fragrance and will not have a lingering smell once rinsed out.

Q: How long dose this dye work until it washes out?

submitted by How long dose it last - 3 years ago
  • A: Thanks for your question! The Signature Hair Gloss lasts between 3-4 weeks depending on how often you wash your hair. This will help extend the life of your color in between your hair appointments.

submitted byKristin Ess Hair - 2 years ago

  • A: According to their online site, 3-4 weeks depending on how frequently you wash your hair. I'm just using for the first time.

Q: hi I was wondering if my hair is dyed bright red but I want to go this color do I need to strip or do any other treatment before doing this? thank you

Q: can you use this if you don't color your hair, I am mostly gray with some of my natural dark brown hair underneath. What shade would I choose?

submitted by Shep - 1 month ago
  • A: Hi Shep Good news is, you have options! If you’re looking to maintain your natural color and grays and you want to boost shine without adding any color, go with the Crystal Quartz gloss! It’s colorless and won’t alter your natural color. If you’re interested in using something with pigment, it would depend on several factors. Would you be able to upload a photo of your hair color here so we can help you select the right shade? If you’re not comfortable adding a photo here, please reach out to customerservice@kristinesshair.com and we can help you via email.

Q: Hello! I've been thinking about this but I have a two-tone hairstyle (brown on top, blonde underneath), if I got Chocolate Cosmo, would that bleed into my blonde portion when rinsing it in the shower?

submitted by AFinch - 1 month ago
  • A: Hello, We're happy to help! You can definitely gloss if you have two tone hair, and there are a couple ways you could go about it: Option 1. Use the Crystal Quartz gloss, which doesn’t have any color pigment! It is a clear gloss, but I would still suggest separating your hair into two sections (dark and light) while applying and processing. I say that because even though it’s a clear gloss, the dark color could still bleed into the lighter color while the gloss is processing, especially if your color was done recently. Option 2. Use Chocolate Cosmo gloss on top and conditioner on the lighter section underneath. Just clip the top/dark section up and away. Next, apply a liberal amount of conditioner to the blonde underneath and secure it in a bun. Next, apply the Chocolate Cosmo gloss to your top section then clip it up and away from the blonde section while it processes. If you can, it helps to lean forward in the shower or sink while applying it to the top section and when you rinse it as well. Once the Chocolate Cosmo gloss is rinsed, proceed shampooing and/or conditioning as you normally would. Hope this helps!

Q: I noticed that hydrogen peroxide is listed as an ingredient in the product. Will this lighten or change the color of the hair that is not currently highlighted if my hair has highlights?

submitted by mommyshark - 2 months ago
  • A: Hello, We're happy to help! Although there is hydrogen peroxide in the ingredient list, it’s added at a level that will only deposit color and not lift your hair to a lighter level. Hope this help!

Q: Hi! Am I supposed to use the whole bottle in one go? I didn't use the whole bottle the first time and I only got a little bit of a difference. Should I use half or the whole bottle?

submitted by madystryk - 2 months ago
  • A: Hello Madystryk, that is correct. Wet hair thoroughly in the shower first, then mix bottles 1 and 2 together, shake gently and apply all over. Wait 10-20 minutes, depending on the result you want, then rinse thoroughly, shampoo and condition as usual. This is everything a ginger could want. I am a natural ginger but my hair is like a dark strawberry blonde. I have always looked for different ways I can give my hair a little more color and this is perfect. It gives my hair a more copper tone without it being too orange. I will always come back to use this product!!

I purchased this because my blonde highlighted hair had started to become a bit too brassy for my liking. I had previously used the clear gloss and didn't see a huge result, so I didn't know what to expect with a colored gloss option. I think the winter wheat worked very well to get me back to the cooler toned blonde that looks best with my skin tone

Unfortunately I saw little to no difference in my hair after using the gloss. No shine, no color difference. And I have light blonde hair already, there should have been at least a hint of copper tone. I will be going back to my original conditioner toner.

I loved that this made my hair super shiny & soft but hated that it turned my hair basically black with red undertones not golden like the box states. I went from a bronde balayage to basically black hair and was not happy..so much so I ended up having to dye it an ash dark brown (by Madison Reed) just to get rid of the red & now I’m stuck with dark hair (good thing it’s fall!). Buyer beware as the results are way darker than the box states & not that chocolate-y color one hopes for when purchasing!

Newest holy grail

OMG I was so nervous about using this product at first because I have never used something like this at home but I LOVE IT. my hair is so shiny and soft!! My hair is naturally a dark brown but had some caramel locks from the summer and I wanted to neutralize it and this made my hair a beautiful dark brown/almost black. The only downside of this product is it does smell a little weird and it did stain my bathtub :( so next time I’ll be a little more mindful when applying, but I’ll definitely be using this again. No more trips to the salon!!!

Best gloss for redheads hands down. I’m a natural redhead but my hair has dulled over the years and some sporadic whites are even popping up (hello 40!) but this gloss gave me a youthful and very natural looking copper. I would only use as much as you need because it felt like I was rinsing this out forever!

I really do like the KH line and used several of the gloss colors in the past and had no issues. When I wanted to tone down my dark chocolate brown hair into something more neutral I got Bittersweet, only for it to be black. Yes, like my hair is legit black now. I should’ve listened to the reviews but it seemed like a mixed bag, so now I’m waiting for it to wash out to at least the lighter color it was before.

I love this toner! I bought another drugstore priced toner (Glaze) and it was terrible. Turned my hair fake cherry red. I was looking to revive my copper babylights that were turning blonde. I saw an influencer used Copper Penny on Instagram and have the results I was looking for. It did not disappoint! My hair looks very natural and it’s soft and shiny. Did not experiment any dryness. The only downside is that can only use this once and I ended up wasting a lot of product. However, now that I have a backup, I saved my first applicator bottle to only use what I need and save the rest next time. I wish I had tried it sooner given that I love and frequently use other Kristin Ess products. Highly recommend!
