I have used this shampoo and conditioner religiously since it launched (13 yrs now? maybe longer) and it was truly amazing. Left my hair healthy, nourished and looking and feeling great. I always buy tons at a time and just had to re-stock for the first time this year and I honestly thought I accidentally bought the wrong one the second I put some in my hand. Everything is different. The smell, how it feels in my hair while washing, how it washes out and most importantly - how my hair came out after blow drying. My hair felt dry, damaged and frizzy after using it. And the smell was SO strong - even while I was trying to sleep, every time I woke up in the middle of the night it was all I smelled. I don’t know why they’d ruin such an amazing product. Please bring back the old formula! Based on all the forums I found and reviews I’ve read, everyone seems to be in agreement you guys need to bring the old one back!!

The new version has a very strong perfume odor. I am sensitive to odors and didn’t think to check the odor level when I saw the new shape of the bottle. I love how it performs on my hair but I now need to find a new shampoo.

I used to love this formula and have used it for years. But the new shampoo formula leaves my hair very greasy and my hair has started falling out leaving me with a balding middle part. The smell is bad too. I will have to find a new shampoo now.

I absolutely loved this conditioner, I used it for at least 6 years!!! But….the new formula change has completely ruined it for me. I’ve been to stores trying to buy all of what’s left of the old formula. New formula has changed my hair and the scent is definitely not as pleasant( was the first thing I noticed when I used it for the first time). I think I would only buy the old formula again.

Terrible. I have very thick hair and my hair has been falling out in clumps. Stripped of oils, it is so thin and I’m now balding. This has never happened in my life. I hope I recover from this soon. Wish I could give this 0 stars

Holy Jesus, this stuff stinks. And not in a good way. The smell was so overpowering, that it gave me a headache and made me nauseous. I had to go back into the shower an hour after using this shampoo, and wash it out with another brands clarifying shampoo. Even after two washes with the clarifying shampoo, the smell lingered, although, fortunately, not as intense as before. Honestly, what are these people thinking? I have found the same issue with the professional salon (read: very expensive) line of L'Oreal products. The smell is just awful. Not only is it too strong, but it smells like a combination of tobacco and musk. Gross. Do the people who create these products have no sense of smell?

My hair was finally growing where I had breakage & I attributed it to THIS shampoo & conditioner. Now you have gone and changed it! It's drying out my hair and the scent is awful! With the new formula, the fragrance has changed to one that is so overpowering that it's made me sick to my stomach and unable to concentrate. I immediately ran out and bought a completely different brand of shampoo to get rid of the smell. I'm so sad to say that as a long time dedicated customer, I'm out. The fragrance is atrocious.

I have been using this product for almost 10 years. The new formula has a very artificial smell. I do not like the new smell. The old formula smell was slightly stronger but it smelled really good. I do not like the new smell.

I have been using Total Repair shampoo and conditioner for over a decade. A couple of years ago they changed it and I was disappointed but got used to the difference. But now this time....it's completely different. I hate this new formula. After 10 years I have had to shop for a different brand. I am disappointed and tired of the changes. You have lost a long time customer!

I had used the original total 5 shampoo for year and years and years - with this formula change and scent change, I can no longer use and it does not do my hair justice as it used to. I also do not understand changing the formula without noting this to customers, as well as the name change and the scent as well, as similar to others, I find the scent overwhelming and not for me. I no longer recommend this shampoo, conditioner, or hair mask to friends and am now looking for something new, probably not l'oreal
