Q: why does it make a distinctive loud humming noise

A: Hi, Thank you for reaching out to Lasko Products. My apologies for all the trouble because of this matter. No worries, I'll be more than happy to assist you. First, please power off and unplug the unit for approximately 15-minutes. Please also try plugging into a different plug in a different room after allowing the item to sit unplugged for the recommended 15-minutes. Here is a video that explains this a bit more in-depth: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hom3hOU-vHk While the unit is unplugged, using a vacuum with the brush attachment, please vacuum the intake and exhaust vents, from the outside of the unit. If you have a can of compressed air, that can be used as well in combination with the vacuum. Remember to never open the unit as this poses a safety concern and can void your warranty. Q: Is this fan totally battery operated, with no cord or is the remote just battery operated?

A: It has a 6ft. cord to plug into an outlet as well as the battery-operated remote control.

A: The blades are plastic. I went into the store and couldn't tell from the box. One of the employees opened the box.

A: Have a man tighten it properly for you and it will stay up all night. Also: have him place a bit of plastic shopping bag over the lower half to give extra girth when screwing.

A: That's a great question, the oscillation from left to right is 90 degree however, tilting up and down we do not have a record. Tilt-back fan head and adjustable height is for customizing the fan's cooling airflow.

I love how powerful the fan is. It does a really good job helping keep the house cool. I mainly use this at night when I sleep but it came in handy when our AC went out and helped our portable AC distribute the air throughout the house. Definitely worth the buy.

I don’t recommend this product. I got this fan to replace an older version of this model. I put the fan together and turned it on, and you can literally see the phone tilting on its pole because the fan is blowing with such an intense force. I would return it but I have already gotten ride of the box.

These fans don’t last that long especially for the cost. Unfortunately there isn’t much variety for stand fans at most of the big box stores and this is one of the only options. We have gone through 4 of this fans now. The motor always is the point of failure. One lasted only a few months. Attempted to contact the company but got no response from them.

This was the only one of these left. After reading the reviews it was clear that this fan has quality control issues. But target has an easy return process and some people do love this fan. I assembled mine and it came without a tightener. I debated taking it back or calling the company for a replacement part. I chose to call for replacement part over an exchange because I do believe people when they say it's noisy. Mine isn't noisy. But I suspect some are. Because poor quality control. My experience kind of proves my theory on that. That said if you get a good one of these it is a nice fan for the price. I just had to take off stars on ease of use for missing parts, value for the cost vs design vs likelihood of having to return it ( and the added damage to the environment that returns lead to). Finally, value takes a big hit. Perhaps you just look at the cost of the fan vs other similar fans. But I look at factors like having to call for replacement parts, trying to rebox it for return and environmental impact. So, it gets a 1 star there. Other than that, it did feel cheep during assembly but once everything was together it was more stable. The one thing I love about this fan are the shape of the blades. That shape moves a lot of air and is the primary reason I rolled the dice on it.

The grill or vent was so cheaply made and flimsy, I almost cracked it, even with gentle pressure. The blades were just as flimsy and I don't think they would have lasted long. The way they were made also looked like a rush job, where pieces of plastic were still stuck on the ends. Then no matter how hard you tighten the nut on the base, the fan would sink. Save yourself the money and buy another brand. Very disappointed. It claims Made in the USA but not really if you read the fine print.

While it is a very powerful fan with some cool features.... i gotta only give it 3 stars. The adjustable bar does not tighten enough to secure the fan from it going down with minor pull. The base connection and where the fan connects to the fan is not very secure. None of fan feel very safe which is why i think it was made with cheap plastic. I just need it for some added air flow, so ill tey it out for a week but im not blown away especially for the price. Also the front came a bit scraped up.
