At 2 and a half my daughter is fascinated with fish and loves counting, these counters are a great visual to help teach her the names of the different ocean animals. They can be used in a variety of ways including in sand and water, and are easy to clean. So far we have used them to help with counting, learning their names and putting them into groups of the same animal. The counters are realistic in design and colour, however not in size as they are all roughly the same size. They are great for imaginary play and keep my daughter entertained for long periods of time, either on her own or as a family activity. Going forward there are ideas for future learning included in the storage tub making them great for older children too.

My three year old and I have been having so much fun with these ocean counters! The leaflet has some great activity suggestions for counting and sorting games. We also played a loose version of 'happy families' as there are five of each animal, asking each other "have you got a manta ray?", "yes, here you go"! The tub makes the counters great for on the go, we plan on taking them to the beach at some point to play in shallow rock pools. But until then they have been in the bath, and even in a plastic tray with an 'iceberg' and a bath bomb - for a realistic ocean colour - see pictures. We have been naming the animals as they slide down the iceberg singing to the tune of baby shark! Whale Shark do-do do do-do do, Manta Ray do-do do do-do do, humpback whale do-do do do-do do, hammerhead shark do-do do do-do do etc. So much fun!

Well my son absolutely loves these! He is fish mad and he was able to recognise what they were, they are that realistic. We have had whales verses shark battles, they have been put in water as they will die without it! As an educator they are great for counting and calculating, they will be great for ocean based topics and small world play. They are all the same size which isn't true to life, but that doesn't impact on use, just a good talking point. They are way to store due to the tub they come in, which for those not as clued up as my 5 year old identifies the species and give ideas for use.

A set of 50 true to life counters with various ocean animal designs. Little booklet included that gives game play ideas and names all the creatures. As well as sorting and counting they are great for creative play. Can be used in sand or water trays. I put them in small tubs of water and froze them. My little one loved using a spoon to dig them out!
