Q: Is this system resistant for year round, below 0 degree weather?

submitted by Just right - 4 years ago
  • A: This system is designed to be outdoors. The cold weather should not harm your system. We recommend following the maintenance instructions in your manual. In addition, one thing you can do is to fill your base with sand rather than water. When the water freezes and expands inside the base it could cause cracking and leaking overtime.

Q: is this the same hight as the ones in the nba

submitted by bobo - 6 years ago
  • A: This basketball system can adjust in increments from 8 ft. up to 10 ft. If the system is at the highest height setting it would be the same height as what the NBA uses.

Excellent Basketball System, I Love It!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] First, I was surprised at the size of the box, I thought it would be bigger. But everything was there and we followed the instructions that were very easy to understand. It took a little over 3 hours to assemble with my wife helping. When we were done we were amazed at the great professional quality! We filled the base with water and we were shooting away! I can raise and lower the height of the backboard very easily. I always wanted a basketball hoop at my house, it's another part of the American Dream! I think it makes my house and driveway look better too. Can't wait for the Grand-kids to come over, what a surprise this is gonna be. Going out to shoot some more hoops now. Great Exercise too!

Great fun for the whole family! Only negative is the hole for filling the base with sand is way too small, it should be like a 3" hole.

Was not too hard to put together. Did it by myself for the most part needed extra person for a couple of steps. Would have liked a larger hole for adding sand to base. Grandkids enjoy it

We cannot say Thank you to Heidi... Our portable basketball hoop was at least 15 years old and still in good shape. But... One day we moved it and the wheels, shaft, axles, poly and black spacers suddenly cracked, bent and broke. We called Lifetime and spoke with Heidi who knew exactly what we needed to "save" our hoop! Our grandchildren send their love and we send our hugs and gratitude to Heidi and Lifetime Products! Our repairs parts were quickly ordered and shipped by FedEx. Absolutley... No charge!

Do not buy this if you are not handy with tools and don't have plenty of your own on hand!

I just bought one of these two days ago, and expected to spend 1-2 hours putting it together. I might have been successful at that venture, had it not been for the horrible instructions, and the even worse quality control on the hole drilling locations, mainly up on the top pole where you have to mount the backboard. Let's just say, following the instructions is a must, but still requires a fair bit of intelligence outside of instructional understanding, as well as a decent amount of handyman experience or understanding with tools and installation. Had I mounted the backboard rods where the pre-drilled holes were, I would have had a sideways facing backboard, versus the base. The holes were 90 degrees off where they were supposed to be, so I had to drill four half inch holes myself, (and pray I lined them up properly, which wasn't the case and took a vice grip and a hammer to manipulate into the newly drilled holes.) Regardless, that wasn't all... The bottom pole of the main pole system has a clear notch on one side (supposed to be there for visual directional reference). The instructions clearly state to put that notch facing outwards when mounting the pole to the base. I did, and many hours later, I finally was able to install the handle and bracket which keeps the hoop at a pre-chosen height. After mounting it to the backboard braces, I noticed that the brace to mount it to the bottom of the pole was on the opposite side of the pole (again, not according to the instructions). I had to undo that brace and flip it around. After everything was said and done, over 8 hours after beginning installation, I was finally done. The inconvenience factor on this installation is MAJOR! The box does not tell you how many tools YOU need to provide (including socket wrenches {multiple} and sockets of different sizes, hammers {because the pre-drilled holes won't let you slide most of the bolts through by hand}, vice grips, high power drills {minimum 18v or higher} and different sized drill metal drill bits, for when their holes are not drilled in the proper location, and large flat head screw drivers, to help you bring everything into alignment when the holes are off.)

Great product but I’m more happy about the customer service. They were out of stock on item I wanted and they found another item for me that was very similar. They responded to all my emails in reasonable timeframe. They get a lot of big orders but still paid attention to me even though it was just one item. It was great experience and would order from them again.

Great on being able to order. Told by salesman and on line when ordering the basketball hoop was in stock, immediately after ordering it appeared backordered. I check regularly still backordered, no communication regarding when it will be in. Rating right now is zero stars. No communication is the big issue and being told that you had it until I ordered it.

Assembly

We are so happy with our new hoop! Assembly took about 4 hours and was definitely a two person job. Directions were easy to follow. We had some challenges with getting screws to line up and easily go into the holes, but with a hammer and a little dish soap to help us out, we finished the job. Now that assembly is done, our kids are enjoying playing basketball every day. An awesome purchase for our family! Thank you Lifetime!

The hoop is decent quality. It took a couple hours to put together, instructions certainly could have been clearer. My only real complaint is the backboard was scratched upon arrival.
