A: Hello, Our Listerine Original Antiseptic mouthwash does not have added flavor on it, but it has a menthol in it's active ingredients as Antimicrobial Agent.

Q: Benzoic acid (a non active ingredient) is listed on the Right to Know Hazardous Substance List. Why would that be in something we're putting in our mouth?

A: Hello. This product has inactive ingredients of Benzoic acid, or more commonly its sodium salt, sodium benzoate. Benzoic acid is used in mouthwash as a preservative to inhibit the growth of microorganisms and extend the product's shelf life.

This mouthwash does exactly what it’s supposed to do - kills bacteria and freshens breath. It doesn’t run out as quickly, since it comes in a big bottle, so it’s also very convenient!

If you want longer lasting fresh breath, then Listerine is the mouthwash to try. The original formula gives me fresher and a cleaner mouth than brushing and flossing alone. Even though it does contain alcohol this doesn’t seem to “burn” as much as other alcohol based mouthwashes for some reason. Although I like the original formula, I prefer Listerine’s more minty and menthol flavored one. But this is still very good

Strong but works
It may be unpleasant/harsh for some cause it’s strong stuff, but it comes in handy. I gargle when I’m feeling a sore throat and it helps. Also use it to disinfect my toothbrush with it periodically to keep it sanitary between change outs. It’s a solid mouthwash too.

That amber bottle holds a mouthwash that means business—if you want something minty and mild, this is not your friend.
