A: Lodge Cast Iron Products are tested for leachable heavy metals (e.g., lead) in accordance with California Prop 65 and USA FDA GRAS (generally regarded as safe) food contact surface regulations. While cast iron typically has trace amounts of lead, Lodge products are well below the regulated limits.

Quality item, unexpected color.
This dutch oven is high quality; it even came with pot protectors and a matching trivet. Be aware this isn't a true burgundy color. It's a grey toned purple, nothing like pictured. Also, about every other pot was chipped in-store so be sure to buy in person to secure a non damaged dutch oven. Lodge really should have put these things in a proper box with packing.
