A Christmas gift for my nephew

What a superb set. I bought this when it went on sale, thinking I was getting a really good-looking Lego set. Imahine my surprise when I discovered that this was NOT, in fact, a Lego set. The quality of the pieces, the precision of the fit and the intricacy of the build rival many much more expensive Lego sets, while not only looking better but costing a third the price. Multiple printed and bespoke pieces (the windshield and rear window are their own custom pieces, as opposed to brick constructs) make this kit really shine, and custom decals and multiple body options make it uniquely yours. I cannot recommend this kit enough, and have to wonder how Lego will respond to a company taking their system and making it better.

If you like Lego, you know it is serious business with its own economy. Lego should take note of this Mattel brick building set. It is of comparable quality in almost every way to Lego. It is a much better value at a third of the price and all printed elements instead of stickers. A nice build experience.

I purchased this set a couple weeks ago, and was excited to get started on the build. This Corvette is a great looking vehicle, and I was looking forward to putting it on display. Unfortunately, the building experience was terrible. Some pieces fit loosely together, others were perfect, and still others were nearly impossible to snap together. The size tolerance of the pieces is unacceptable. In addition, there were two major design flaws which almost caused me to stop and discard the entire set. Since there are many good reviews, I have to assume my set was defective. Flaw One - when the steering assembly is properly build the 2 front tires both aim in. If I attempt to straighten one wheel out, the other wheel turns in even further in. It's impossible to get both wheels straight. I unassembled and reassembled 2 more times, and the results were the same. Flaw Two - neither front wheel properly fit inside the front wheel wells. Once squeezed inside, the wheels can't be turned at all. Again, i assembled and disassembled 3 times and the results were the same. I REALLY wanted to love the Hot Wheels Brick Shop cars as they are all beautiful, but I will not purchase any more as this build was a "train wreck".

Another bonus is the matching 1:64 Hot Wheels car to display together. The build instructions are highlighted well but there is still plenty of challenge in assembly.

The pieces are hard to get together. Once you finish, the car starts to fall apart, it’s just annoying and bad quality. Miles away from Lego!

But I’m pretty sure they were just me being me. LOL I would definitely do this again I love that the steering wheel makes the front wheels move and how the hood pops open. The decals make this build complete and the mini corvette just compliments it even more.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I received this about 2 weeks ago. My daughter hasn't finished it and put all of the pieces away. She was getting very frustrated because the pieces don't stay together. She spent an hour going through all of the pieces and there is one missing. This surprises me because Lego has always prided itself on both of these issues. It is a cool looking model, but unfortunately, it was not completed.

He is having a great time putting this Corvette together and enjoys that it’s a bigger project and somewhat of a challenge. It is really convenient that each of the steps comes in a separate numbered bag which makes the assembly easy to follow. This building set is of great quality. He really liked that it came with metal parts and a Hot Wheels car.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My kids love building things, and this was our first time trying a Mattel Brick Shop kit. I have two boys, 8 and 10, and they worked happily together to put this kit together. Our family has a special love for vintage Corvettes, so it was a really fun kit! The doors and hood open and close on hinges, which is neat. It is definitely fragile once put together - not a toy to "play with" by driving it around in play, because it's brick-style and fragile. However even when pieces fell off, my kiddos were able to rebuild those sections again. Being such a large and complex set, I'm not sure my kids will want to take it apart and rebuild it for awhile - it sits on display as a huge accomplishment for them! But they both told me they would love to get more of these sets, and that this was their favorite of our brick-type sets we own! The pieces come in well labeled packages, and the instruction book is well designed and easy to understand. It came with some extra pieces as well, to add on additional features to customize if you want. It also came with stickers to customize it, which is one reason my kids don't want to take it apart and start over again - it would ruin their sticker designs they added. They loved that it came with a mini Hot Wheels car of the same design! This is definitely something we want to get more of!!

The instructions were clear although we did place a block wrong a couple times without realizing until further into the build. That required us to disassemble some but to no fault of the instructions. The detail of the build is incredible and the windshield came wrapped in tissue to protect it from scratches. It does come with stickers to put on the build but my son opted to not use them as he thought the car looks cool without them.

Great value and cheaper the legos collectable series.
