Mederma Cold Sore Discreet Healing Patch - 15ct: Cold and Canker Sore Treatments, Unflavored, Patch Form

Bought these for the first time yesterday, and was very excited to use these due to its seemingly convenient and discrete claims. I read the directions numerous times before even attempting to apply one. I think I went through three before I even got one that the patch actually came off of the green applicator. This morning it came off on its own in the shower, after the shower on completely clean and dry skin, I attempted to apply another one. Wasted four just trying to get them to come off of the green applicator or clear sheet. I’ve gone through about eight in two days and have only applied two effectively. I’m so disappointed and feel like this purchase was such a waste of money. They are a great idea don’t get me wrong, but the amount of them that you waste just trying to get one that works properly is very discouraging.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I did like using this patch when I had a cold sore. I don’t think it really decrease the length of the cold sore by much, but it may have helped with the redness and swelling.

I was really disappointed with these Mederma cold sore patches. The packaging makes them nearly impossible to remove without tearing the patch. I followed the instructions, used dry hands, and tried peeling carefully, but the patch kept sticking to the backing and ripping. For something meant to be applied precisely, this design is incredibly frustrating. Definitely not worth the hassle.

I love these. They stay put. I don’t like how I can feel it flip up from the part inside my lip when I eat but it doesn’t rip off and lays back down fine. I always dealt with my scab ripping off over and over again and it could take forever to heal. This is essentially the scab. You’re just managing it, so it skips a lot of the healing time.

I have had cold sores for decades. I’ve tried numerous products to no avail. My wife came across your discreet healing patches as i was suspect of results. To my amazement, the patches performed better than any previous patches.My healing time went from two plus weeks to just a few days. More importantly I did not experience the pain of the cold sore at all. I thank your company for providing a resource that provides immediate relief.

Hands down the best cold sore patches I’ve ever used. I’ve been using these for maybe 2 years and they never fail me.

While this patch helps to conceal my cold sore, I haven’t seen much in the healing process. There are also 3 out of 10 patches that I used so far that stick on the green container and I couldn’t use it. What a waste!!

These cold sore patches are great. Especially for overnight while I'm sleeping and can't keep applying medicine. Please make a variety pack of different sizes. Sometimes my cold sores are much smaller and directly on my lip, and a smaller patch would suffice for during the day and would be less noticeable.

I feel they need to be some patches need to be different sizes because if you have a bigger one you have to either leave part uncovered or use 2 to cover it up. I love the the patches help to conceal it in an inconspicuous way.

When my cold sore started to scab up, that's when I started using these patches. The scab was so bright red and uncomfortable that I decided to try them. I'm quite impressed with how well they are helping to heal the rest of the way. When I took the first one off at the end of the day, the big red scab came off with it, and it started looking so much better. I would not put these on until after the sore begins to scab up though. I gave it one less star because it was kind of a learning curve to get them on at first. I wasted three of them before I figured it out.

I brought this product two days ago because of the application and transparency. After going through seven of the fifteen which were dried up and could not be used, I finally got a patch on. They are working, but for the money I paid, the ones I opened should have been usable.

Game changer for cold sores — with room to become PERFECT These patches are an absolute game changer for anyone who gets fever blisters/cold sores. I genuinely wish these had existed years ago — or that I had found them sooner. What I love: • The no-touch applicator is brilliant. Zero contamination, super hygienic. • They go on effortlessly and immediately protect the area. • The redness reduction is unreal. Without the patch, my cold sore looks like a level-10 disaster. With the patch on, it instantly drops to about a 2. • From a distance (even at a drive-thru window), people cannot tell I have a cold sore. • It keeps me from touching it, picking at it, or contaminating it — which alone speeds healing. • I feel like the area is protected and shielded, which gives real peace of mind. This product does exactly what it promises — especially cosmetically and protectively. Where it could be even better: • Adhesion. The patch sticks beautifully at first, but if it’s placed anywhere near constant moisture (lip line, inside edge of the lip), it can loosen fairly quickly. Even a minute or two of moisture from eating or drinking can make it get gunky and lift. • I’ve gone through about 9 patches in 2 days because of this. I still love them — but stronger adhesion would be a huge upgrade. I honestly wish Mederma would: • Team up with Abreva and either infuse medication into the patch or increase the active ingredients. • Add some kind of tingle or sensation. When I apply Abreva alone, I can feel it working — that slight tingle is reassuring. With the patch, I barely feel anything (maybe mild warmth), and psychologically it would help to feel something happening. • Consider Band-Aid “Second Skin”–level adhesion. Those bandages are waterproof, last days, and visibly show healing. If that level of adhesion existed for lips, this would be unbeatable. Important tips from real use: • I don’t recommend wearing makeup over the patch — it looks a little strange. • I personally don’t rely on this alone. My routine: 1. Remove patch 2. Cleanse with a lip scrubber + Hibiclens 3. Apply Abreva and let it sit 4. Remove Abreva, cleanse again 5. Apply a fresh Mederma patch This combo works incredibly well for me. Bottom line: Even with the adhesion limitations, this product is absolutely worth it. It dramatically reduces redness, protects the sore, prevents contamination, and makes cold sores far less noticeable in public. Mederma is right on the head with this idea — with a few tweaks, this could be the gold standard for cold sore treatment. I will 100% keep buying these

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I could barely feel wearing this and it’s absolutely invisible. No more unsightly cold sores. Very cute packaging. I can easily slip into my purse and take it with. This is very thin. It is made to stay put.

I have dealt with cold sores all my life, especially during the colder months. Bought these to try…and they did not work for me. Wouldn’t stay on my lip while doing my day to day tasks. It’s very noticeable. Decided to try while I was sleeping, woke up to a huge white blister under the patch and two new blisters around the patch. Will never try these again.

It works kind of like a pimple patch where it hides the sore and allows it to heal without you touching it or gracing it with abrasive food or drinks. I loved using it and it did not affect my sensitive skin.

Amazing patch!! Cuts my fever blisters in about 2 days and I have a scrab by day 3!! I wish they had different sizes and shapes. A rectangular patch would be great. I had a bad break out and had to use 2 patches on my upper lip. One rectangular patch would have been perfect!

The product itself is fine however the completely idiotic system they devised to apply it is … one of the dumbest things I’ve ever seen. I will absolutely never purchase these again and I really suggest you save your money and aggravation and skip these. Completely useless.

I was hoping this would be better than the cheap hydrocolloid patches I normally use but they aren’t. I felt like it didn’t shorten the length of the cold sore and didn’t do anything special. For the price, I expected something better. The adhesive was good and it did stay on better than my typical hydrocolloid patches.
