Game changer
Game changer for cold sores — with room to become PERFECT These patches are an absolute game changer for anyone who gets fever blisters/cold sores. I genuinely wish these had existed years ago — or that I had found them sooner. What I love: • The no-touch applicator is brilliant. Zero contamination, super hygienic. • They go on effortlessly and immediately protect the area. • The redness reduction is unreal. Without the patch, my cold sore looks like a level-10 disaster. With the patch on, it instantly drops to about a 2. • From a distance (even at a drive-thru window), people cannot tell I have a cold sore. • It keeps me from touching it, picking at it, or contaminating it — which alone speeds healing. • I feel like the area is protected and shielded, which gives real peace of mind. This product does exactly what it promises — especially cosmetically and protectively. Where it could be even better: • Adhesion. The patch sticks beautifully at first, but if it’s placed anywhere near constant moisture (lip line, inside edge of the lip), it can loosen fairly quickly. Even a minute or two of moisture from eating or drinking can make it get gunky and lift. • I’ve gone through about 9 patches in 2 days because of this. I still love them — but stronger adhesion would be a huge upgrade. I honestly wish Mederma would: • Team up with Abreva and either infuse medication into the patch or increase the active ingredients. • Add some kind of tingle or sensation. When I apply Abreva alone, I can feel it working — that slight tingle is reassuring. With the patch, I barely feel anything (maybe mild warmth), and psychologically it would help to feel something happening. • Consider Band-Aid “Second Skin”–level adhesion. Those bandages are waterproof, last days, and visibly show healing. If that level of adhesion existed for lips, this would be unbeatable. Important tips from real use: • I don’t recommend wearing makeup over the patch — it looks a little strange. • I personally don’t rely on this alone. My routine: 1. Remove patch 2. Cleanse with a lip scrubber + Hibiclens 3. Apply Abreva and let it sit 4. Remove Abreva, cleanse again 5. Apply a fresh Mederma patch This combo works incredibly well for me. Bottom line: Even with the adhesion limitations, this product is absolutely worth it. It dramatically reduces redness, protects the sore, prevents contamination, and makes cold sores far less noticeable in public. Mederma is right on the head with this idea — with a few tweaks, this could be the gold standard for cold sore treatment. I will 100% keep buying these

Invisible comfort for cold sores
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I could barely feel wearing this and it’s absolutely invisible. No more unsightly cold sores. Very cute packaging. I can easily slip into my purse and take it with. This is very thin. It is made to stay put.

Not for me!
I have dealt with cold sores all my life, especially during the colder months. Bought these to try…and they did not work for me. Wouldn’t stay on my lip while doing my day to day tasks. It’s very noticeable. Decided to try while I was sleeping, woke up to a huge white blister under the patch and two new blisters around the patch. Will never try these again.

Great hydrocolloid patches
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This cold sore patch really helps heal when you have big painful sores near the mouth. It works kind of like a pimple patch where it hides the sore and allows it to heal without you touching it or gracing it with abrasive food or drinks. I loved using it and it did not affect my sensitive skin.

Love this
Amazing patch!! Cuts my fever blisters in about 2 days and I have a scrab by day 3!! I wish they had different sizes and shapes. A rectangular patch would be great. I had a bad break out and had to use 2 patches on my upper lip. One rectangular patch would have been perfect!

Worst Applicator in History
The product itself is fine however the completely idiotic system they devised to apply it is … one of the dumbest things I’ve ever seen. I will absolutely never purchase these again and I really suggest you save your money and aggravation and skip these. Completely useless.

Not worth it
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This was only ok. I rarely get cold sores, but when I do, they last awhile and are painful. I was hoping this would be better than the cheap hydrocolloid patches I normally use but they aren’t. I felt like it didn’t shorten the length of the cold sore and didn’t do anything special. For the price, I expected something better. The adhesive was good and it did stay on better than my typical hydrocolloid patches.

Extreme Adverse Reaction
I bought this two weeks ago and needless to say, I am very dissatisfied. The patches didn't stay on very well and I developed some type of clear slightly yellowish liquid that leaked from the patches. After using 6-7 of them within about 2-3 days, I decided to stop once I noticed the liquid. I removed the ones I had been wearing and shortly after I began feeling sick. Roughly an hour later I actually became very dizzy and my vision became very vivid, which then lead to me collapsing on my bed after almost fainting on the floor.

The best
I’ve gotten 1-2 cold sores every year for 43 years. I take vitamin B, D and Lysine every day. That keeps it to 1 a year. Abreva is awful like any other cream. Maybe it cuts it down by a day or 2? Either way, they look horrible for 2 weeks. I just found this product on the 4th day of a cold sore. Absolute game changer. You can sorta tell there’s something on my lip but it’s 10,000 times better than a nasty cold sores. Even after the scab is gone, the lip is still very red and sore for a week. This hides it 99%. My only advise is to be careful removing it to change. The adhesive is great, which means and could peel the scab too early. Wet it and let it begin to fall off slowly. Legit, best invention. This would have saved me a months worth of embarrassment over the years. Also, I don’t feel gross or oozy because it’s completely contained under a new skin. Thank you!!

I normally like your product, but this time I feel I’m wasting my money. Almost every one I tried to apply is stuck to the green part and I end up not able to use.

Would Not Buy
I bought the patch in anticipation of attending an event and wanted to disguise my cold sore somewhat. I followed the instructions to the letter. When I applied makeup over the patch it became entirely visible. The patch would not stay on. After multiple attempts I gave up. I would not recommend this product.

Grew my cold sore
I applied several patches over the course of 2 days and my cold sore grew in size. It started as a small pimple like spot on the edge of my bottom lip and grew the size of a dime down into my skin. I decided to stop using them and my cold sore was able to get the air it needed to dry out. I didn’t feel tingling or discomfort wearing the patch but I believe the moisture from the patch made it grow.

Noticeable and caused irritation
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This cold sore patch was not what I expected. It only covered it and didn’t heal at all. It was painful removing the patch and made it worse! When putting makeup over the patch you can still see it and it was not very cute.

Great cold sore patch
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I do not suffer from cold sores, nevertheless my mom does and this product is great for her. Easy to use and the appearance is great. This is a great barrier to prevent contamination. I like that you can apply make up over it. Also it does help to heal the cold sore faster.

Works great!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The Mederma Cold Sore Patch works really well and is super easy to apply. The patch goes on smoothly and stays in place without being uncomfortable. It creates a protective barrier that helps keep the cold sore clean while it heals. I noticed it helped reduce irritation and made the sore less noticeable throughout the day. It’s discreet, effective, and takes the stress out of dealing with cold sores. Definitely a product I would keep on hand and recommend

Cold Sore Patch
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I’ve used this product for a couple years now. It’s great to keep a cold sore covered and protected. It has a matte finish to it so can’t really see it once it’s applied. Maybe it’s where I get my cold sores but I find that after I’m done eating the patch rolls up and I have to apply another one. I wish it had better adhesive or different shapes but other than that it’s a great product.

Okay toy use on coldsore
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] During the cold season this come in handy since the cold and dry air trigger my coldsore. The thing i like about this product is that it does help cover the cold sore neatly, not completely make it invisible but it does look better and more sanitized for coldsore wound and easy to apply. Healing process is pretty much the same to me, doesnt make it heal faster.
