Great dehumidifying, pretty bad ergonomics

I bought this product about a month ago to help manage the moisture in my 3 floor Chicago house. It has done an amazing job. My one big dissatisfaction is how un-ergonomic the design is, particularly when it comes to dumping out the water. It is a large, square, and high capacity dehumidifier, and therefore heavy when full. I have to do a full squat to lift it to avoid hurting my back repeatedly, and then carrying it to the sink is a sloshy nightmare. Unlock other machines I’ve had where the handle is at the edge of the bucket and can be carried with a straight arm, this one would spill everywhere if I tried that since the handle straddles the middle of the large square bucket. This dehumidifier is not for anyone with any kind of physical limitation, even a bum shoulder. But yes, very happy with the moisture improvement in my house.

Terrible product, dead after 2 years. Don't bother calling for help, they will troubleshoot by asking you basic questions that don't help. No recommendations for a repair shop close by either, do not waste your money!!

This dehumidifier does a great job in keeping humidity levels down in my basement. I like being able to monitor it using the app.
They designed this to the max.

So flexible and powerful, but also simple. It collapses into half the size when you're not using it. Big sturdy handle Easy to use phone app Powerful dehumidifying, also a quiet fan setting Can gravity-drain or pump drain (up to 14 feet uphill!) Can set a schedule (so it goes quiet at night) Can set preferred bucket fill level so it doesn't get too heavy for you to lift. They thought of EVERYTHING. Probably my third dehumidifier and this one works. Keeping it.

Setup & 1st couple of weeks of operation went very well. Tried bucket mode 1st then shifted to pump mode. Using in basement with 1/4" pump discharge hose thru wall into floor drain 12' away. Both dehumidifier & iPhone APP performing very well so far. Replaced a GE dehumidifier w/pump that I bought in 2022. That dehumidifier failed after 1-1/2 years. After some research found that the "GE" dehumidifier was mfgr by Midea also as are apparently all other brands sold in USA. Hoping that this one since it's bearing the Midea label lasts a lot longer. Located in Westerville, Ohio USA

I purchased this because I needed a larger dehumidifier. Yes, it is hefty but isn’t this what you want to dry out your basement?! I have a Honeywell and only 20 pints doesn’t cut it during Spring rain. The fan is amazing! It was only running for a short time and my basement felt warmer and dryer. The app is really easy to use and it was nice to see that there wasn’t a firmware update. Now on to the cons! If you want to use the pump, the hose is very short! I might have to have an electrician come to install an outlet to reach a window…which will let more humidity in. And HomeKit. If you say a product works with HomeKit, that means more than a Siri shortcut. That means you can control your device from your Home app. It’s great that I can add a widget to my Home Screen but I can’t control it in my Home. I can’t get notifications in my Home app.

I have been running this unit for two months and had no problems. It reduces humidity effectively and can set the level you want. I wish that I could control the appliance manually rather than having to use the app, but it is a minor annoyance. Overall, it works fine.

I bought this just before the winter last year and I wish I didn't. Midea claims it will dehumidifier up to 4500 Sq ft but It won't even bring down the humidity in a 5ft x 5 ft hallway. The unit says humidity is low 40%s but all my humidistats say it's still in the 70%s. It puts out alot of heat (entire house went from 20 degrees up to 24 degrees in a couple hours) and a bucket every couple days. The manual is full of translation errors and doesn't tell you at all how to connect to the wifi beyond press the button for 3 seconds. It doesn't mention what app you get to control the unit. I don't know how this unit was reviewed so well on other sites.

Strongly recommend avoiding this dehumidifier. It lasted less than two years, and even though the filters were regularly cleaned and the device was maintained, the coils were starting to rust. Midea support was not helpful either. And when it was working, the lowest fan mode was quite loud.

Worked well for a year and half then gradually stopped working. I suspect that the refrigerant circuit developed a leak. For a while would freeze and generate enough ice that it would come through the side despite running in a warm environment with clean filters. Now runs without making water.

Premature failure, poor materials, awful support

On paper, it looks great: compact (especially in bucket-less mode), draws in air over a large surface, it packs nicely for the off-season. In real life: It has a "back saver" feature: one can choose how much water gets collected in the bucket before the unit stops (24, 30, 36.5 or 40.5 lb). BUT to empty the bucket, one has to first lift and set aside the 37 lb "cube"... If you are comfortable moving around 37 lb, but have trouble lifting 40.5 lb, this may "save you back"; otherwise it's useless. It includes a "pump" that should automatically empty the bucket. A perfect example of paper clips and duct tape after-thought design that didn't work. Configured it by the book, left the unit running until the bucket filled up to the highest level, the pump never engaged. While I was emptying the bucket manually, more water came out from the "cube", leaving a puddle on the floor. The "timer" is only a delayed-start/stop option that must be set manually every single time. It worked well in bucket-less mode, BUT after only 4 weeks rust started coming out through the draining hose. Midea Support said "rust is not covered by warranty". 2 months after the (1 year) warranty expired, the unit started icing up badly and became unusable. Since Midea declined responsibility, I took it apart and found that some of the internal parts are badly rusted and refrigerant had leaked out too. In short, the dehumidifier is now junk. Considering all of the above, I would not recommend it to anyone.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I love how this product has wheels at the bottom so is easy to move around from room to room. The fact that I don't have to carry it while it has water is so helpful. I also like clear indicators to see where the water level is.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I tried the Midea 50 pint dehumidifier and I am really liking it. The setup was incredibly easy and even the wheels didn't require any tools. I live in Florida so it is very humid and we get a lot of rain. I have noticed some mold around windows so figured this would help with all the moisture in the air. I set it up in less than 5 minutes and pressed power and it was good to go. In about 10 minutes, the humidity had dropped 6 percent, despite it raining outside. I think this will get a lot of use during hurricane season. The only downside might be the weight, as some people might struggle to lift it but it was ok for me.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I absolutely adore this product! It's easy to assemble and easy to use their various ways of drainage. My personal favorite is to have it fill up in the bucket and empty it out on my own accord. Nobody really realizes on how important it is to have a dehumidifier. Sometimes there can be a muggy smell in the air and people don't know what it is. That's usually because there's too much moisture in the air. By using a dehumidifier, it makes it so your Air is easier to breathe and smell way better than you ever thought. It also makes it so you get sick less often! Not only that, but it also comes with wheels so you can move it from room to room with ease.
