Potting soil.
Best potting soil ever. I have used it for years and my flowers grow amazingly. I rarely have to fertilize. The size is perfect for filling pots.

Gnat infested soil
Had so many gnats that I thought I did something wrong. I decided to throw the soil out and start over. I wish I read the reviews first! Such a waste of money

We're sorry to read about your disappointment with Miracle-Gro Moisture Control Potting Mix and appreciate your feedback. Insects could not survive the composting and packing process. However, it is possible for them to enter the bag during shipping and storage. Insect may also come in with soil of transplanted plant or enter through cracks, crevices, open windows or doors simply looking for suitable environment. Fungus gnats do not harm humans and do little plant damage (they primarily feed on the fungus found naturally in soil). Possible ways to control fungus gnats include: allowing the soil to dry out as much as possible between watering will help control the larvae or applying at least 1/2" of horticultural sand on top of the soil of potted/container plants. Larvae cannot burrow through the sand and will die. Horticultural sand should be left on the container for several weeks, until the problem is solved. The sand does not have to be removed, but if you wish to remove it, dispose of it by recycling in a garden, landscape or lawn area. Do not use play sand in planter soil. The fine granules can turn the soil very hard and there will be issues with drainage. We want you to be confident in our products. For this reason, we offer a product guarantee. If for any reason you, the consumer, are not satisfied with the results after using this product, you are entitled to get your money back. Limitations apply. At your earliest convenience, please reach out to us at 888-295-6902 if we can further assist.

So many gnats
When I got the bag home and opened it up the inside was filled with fungus gnats and I had to treat the soil with pesticides before I could even use it to repot my plants.

We are sorry to read about your experience with the Miracle-Gro Moisture Control Potting Mix. To manage fungus gnats, adjust watering by allowing the soil to dry out as much as possible between waterings. You can also apply at least 1/2 inch of horticultural sand on top of the soil in your potted or container plants, as the larvae can't burrow through the sand. Leave the sand in place for several weeks until the problem is resolved. You don't need to remove the sand, but if you choose to, you can recycle it in a garden, landscape, or lawn area. Important: Do not use play sand, as its fine granules can make the soil hard and cause drainage issues. If the soil is still in the bag, you can spread it out in a box and let it dry completely. If it's summer, you can even set it outside in the sun.We would like the opportunity to gather some additional information and offer assistance. Worse than moldy
Full of Fungal Spores! I replanted 3 of my plants in May/June. A little bit of white mold appeared in the bag and I just picked it out. Now this is in my spiderplant!! 😱🤯

No clue
This is really not a review of the product but more of the spokesperson. I am a propogater by trade and I take offense at Martha Stewart calling soil dirt. She obviously has no clue as to the saying dirt is what you find under your fingernails. Your products are great but please educate your spokesperson.

Back to Miracle Gro!
I switched the soil in all my pots to Happy Frog brand last year. I was disappointed. It seemed heavy and dried out easier. I saw someone on line do an experiment with 14 different potting soils over a season with the same plant, sun, water etc.. Miracle Gro grew the best plants. It just confirmed my feelings. This year I’m going back to my tried and true. Miracle Gro!

Too many mushrooms
I bought this and within a few days of using it, mushrooms started popping up like crazy and when I opened the bag back up, they were even growing inside the bag of soil. I know it's a sign of healthy soil and all that, but they're crowding out my poor chamomile seedlings and I can't get rid of them without hurting the seedlings. I'm not going to want to use chamomile for tea that's been growing with mushrooms either so it's been a really disappointing experience and I'll have to find some better potting soil.

We're sorry to read about your disappointment with Miracle-Gro Moisture Control Potting Mix and appreciate your feedback. The mushrooms actually help break down the organic material in the Miracle-Gro Moisture Control Potting Mix so that plants can use the nutrients. While at times unattractive, mushrooms that develop on growing media do not pose a risk to plants, people or pets. They develop when the surface of the growing media stays wet too long. Once the Miracle-Gro Moisture Control Potting Mix has dried out some, the mushrooms should subside and typically will not re-emerge unless the soil becomes excessively wet. Placing the plants in a sunny area with as much sunlight as the plant can tolerate will help accelerate the processes of getting rid of the mushrooms and reduce the chance of it coming back. We want you to be confident in our products. For this reason, we offer a product guarantee. If for any reason you, the consumer, are not satisfied with the results after using this product, you are entitled to get your money back. Limitations apply. We're sorry to read about your disappointment with Miracle-Gro Moisture Control Potting Mix and appreciate your feedback. Gnats sometimes enter the bags while waiting to be sold. While they can be annoying they do not harm the plants. To control these insects we recommend applying 1/2 inch of sand on top of the soil. Larvae cannot burrow through the sand and will die. Be careful the type of dirt you get!
I did not see this when I bought the dirt, but it isn't made to keep moisture IN, but to kind of wick it away so you don't OVERWATER your plant. Fine for some indoor plants, but we live in a desert area, and, really, we want to get soil that keeps moisture IN, not drains it away. I am not an expert, but I was told all this by a customer who raises lots of flowers...

Good product
I'm no gardner, but I just needed potting soil for some house plants. As far as I can tell, this is exactly what I'd expect: decent potting soil like other soil products I've seen. Nothing strikes me as bad about it. The bag doesn't rip and stores easily.

Water-Logged
The bags soak up rain like a sponge and are way too heavy to mess with. Not to mention they reek like a manure and are filthy. Why are these not required to be kept covered ? It's the difference between using 60+ bags a year and zero.
