Monopoly App Banking Board Game

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Our family really enjoys this “techie” version of Monopoly! Our younger kiddos have really enjoyed having the independence to play on their own using the user-friendly app that walks them through the game. The game goes a little quicker than the original Monopoly and has slight tweaks to the rules which we’ve enjoyed. Taking one star off because we’ve had a few instances of the app being glitchy and inserting random players mid-game and, thus, ending their game. Otherwise, we love it!

The electronic banking makes everything faster and easier—no more counting cash or losing money pieces. My son liked scanning the cards and watching his balance change on the screen. The app adds a fun, modern twist to the game, and it helped him practice math without even realizing it. It’s a great update to the classic game and perfect for family game nights!

It creates a seamless experience, allowing players to focus on strategy and fun rather than getting bogged down in finances, and remember who has what! The virtual bank even allows for quick transactions, so if someone lands on your property, they can pay you instantly with just a tap. This makes the game flow much smoother, and kids can easily grasp the concept of buying and trading properties without the confusion of physical money. Plus, the graphics and animations are delightful, keeping everyone engaged. The sounds and alerts add an extra layer of excitement, especially when someone lands on a property and the cash changes hands. The pieces are so colorful and the newly invented properties appeal to the younger ages! We loved how the app also includes mini-games and challenges that add variety to the gameplay. It keeps everyone on their toes and makes each session unique. Side note, my son tried to cheat and he got sent to jail in the game which was super fun! Overall, Monopoly App Banking has taken a classic game and given it a modern twist that appeals to both kids and adults. I used to avoid Monopoly because it could drag on forever and the money would get so messy, but with the cards and the little banking unit, the game goes way quicker and is actually fun to play now. The kids thought using “credit cards” was super cool, and I loved not having to play banker the whole time. It keeps the game moving and there’s no arguing over counting money or making change. Setup was simple and everything worked like it was supposed to. Definitely recommend this version if you want a more modern, streamlined Monopoly night.

I was kind of sad at first, it's just something about the paper money haha. But the app was super easy to download. Really easy to add players. The kids' favorite part is adding a selfies to match their bank cards. They kids also like having their "debit cards" the QR codes make it very easy, it's really hard to mess up playing this game. Overall it is cute! worth the buy!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I tried this game with my High School Business students the other day. Everyone playing had experience with the original Monopoly game, so we had the main concepts down. The scanning of cards in this mobile app version took a minute to get the hang of, but by everyone’s third turn, we were ready to go. In a school setting, we are limited in time, so the biggest frustration was how slow the app pacing was, as it took a long time to get through each turn. We looked in settings to see if we could speed up the pace, but you could only control volume. The pieces in the middle that you scan for passing go, free parking, etc. are just pieces of cardboard, and the plastic chair (which we chose not to see) are not heavy duty, so depending on how much you pay for the game, you might be disappointed. I was playing with a mixed group of boys and girls who are upperclassmen, and they all agreed the theme of the game seemed to be geared at tween girls, as it is a cross between the original-type things but made to be more “kid-friendly” like Monopoly Jr. We all walked away from the first experience feeling like we would rather just play the original, but this might be fun for people who are learning about mobile banking or would rather not deal with money.

As technology progresses, it only makes sense they create games using it, but it's not the same old Monopoly I grew up playing. It's a cool idea! It just needs some help. The number of times I had to scan my bank card during 1 turn was a little much. If it knows it's my turn, I don't want to continually scan the bank card to get money as I pass go, buy a property, scan the "pass go" card, and scan the property card all in one turn. I thought maybe the use of technology would minimize the grueling time it takes to finish Monopoly, but it doesn't. The app is easy to use, but again, it is a lot of steps per turn. After playing many times, I prefer the original Monopoly. Even with all the money and pieces that can get lost easily.
