Purpose

Cough Suppressant, Expectorant, Nasal Decongestant..

Uses

cough due to minor throat and bronchial irritation as may occur with the common cold or inhaled irritants, the intensity of coughing, the impulse to cough to help your child get to sleep, nasal congestion due to a cold, stuffy nose.

Stop use and ask a doctor if

Stop use and ask a doctor if: nervousness, dizziness, or sleeplessness occur,symptoms do not get better within 7 days or occur with fever,cough lasts more than 7 days, comes back, or occurs with fever, rash, or persistent headache. These could be signs of a serious condition.

Directions

Do not give more than 6 doses in any 24-hour period. Measure only with dosing cup provided. Do not use dosing cup with other products. Dose as follows or as directed by a doctor. Keep carton for full information.

Children 6 to Under 12 Years of Age

10 ml every 4 hours.

Children 4 to Under 6 Years of Age

5 ml every 4 hours.

Children Under 4 Years of Age

Do not use.

Each 5 ml contains: sodium 3 mg. Store at 20-25 degrees C (68-77 degrees F). Do not refrigerate.

  • A: Hi Alicia. Thank you for your question. Mucinex® Children's Multi-Symptom Cold liquid contains guaifenesin, dextromethorphan, and phenylephrine. Guaifenesin is not known to cause drowsiness. The active ingredient dextromethorphan has been shown to produce drowsiness in some patients. Phenylephrine is known to be a stimulant which can be considered non-drowsy. These three ingredients together cannot be considered non-drowsy due to the inclusion of dextromethorphan. Hope this helps.

    They need more flavor options!

    This is the only medicine that seems to work on my son when he has a cold and a cough but he hates the taste! That’s why I gave it four stars. He has to drink orange juice right after to get rid of the taste.

    Helps relieve cough and congestion

    It does taste bad, but it works. It has really been helping my daughter’s cough and congestion. We make sure to have water or juice right there when she takes it, and that helps. We have this in the medicine cabinet at all times!

    Doesn't work and horrid taste

    Did absolutely nothing. Brought no relief. Did not do anything that it claimed it would. Definitely did not help with a stuffy/runny nose. And the taste is absolutely horrid. Child would not take again- absolutely refused. Said it's the worst taste of anything they've ever had. Trust me, the negative reviews are legit. I wish I didnt buy it.

    HORRIBLE

    I am honestly so upset. I was very hopeful since this is for four and not that it would help my toddler. It literally does not help whatsoever if anything it makes him worse. And it’s for every four hours so waking him up in the middle of the night to give him more is horrible. I would absolutely never buy this again.

    Disgusting taste

    I thought my daughter was being dramatic when she spit this out and said it was disgusting. So when I got sick, I figured I’d use it up and not waste it. I almost gagged! It does not taste like berries at all. I can’t even describe the taste but it’s worse than any alcohol I’ve ever drank. It’s going straight in the trash. I don’t know how this is still on the shelves.

    Digusting

    This is awful, my son has a terrible cough decided to try it. He took one sip and started to gag and actually threw up. (He is pretty good about medicine)… my husband even took a sip and started to gag. Would not recommend at all

    Love this stuff!

    My son wouldn’t stop coughing and once this kicks in, it works! Coughing eased/stopped and he was able to sleep through the night. He doesn’t seem to be fond of the taste, but we give it slowly and chase it with candy or a fruity drink. Will be sure to make sure we have this on hand in our medicine cabinet.
