Q: Hi! what is in the marble that causes the glowing? We dont need to use the UV light to play, the marble just wont glow in the dark?

submitted by Marble Question - 4 months ago
  • A: Thank you for your question. The interior of the marble is what glows. The UV light is used to help the marble charge faster for glowing purposes. Sunlight will do the same thing, it just takes more time to charge the marble.

Q: does it really glow in the dark like bright lava?

submitted by brooklyn - 4 years ago

The kit also Includes a UV light to quickly recharge the marbles.

I dislike that this set is cheaply made, not very sturdy, and the pieces don’t fit into each other as tightly as they should. My 6 year old loves marbles and assembling these toys. The other brand that’s sold here at Target is way better. I will not be purchasing National Geographic brand again.

It is not sturdy at all and falls apart immediately. It is also not educational. The only good thing is the phosphorescent marbles. It is not worth the money.

Very disappointed

Kim - 3 months ago, Verified purchaser
This item got delayed twice and I still don’t have it. The last update I got was that it will arrive on Saturday. Today is SUNDAY and it’s still not here. I contacted the customer service to ask for a refund but he said it always takes several days more than the arrival date they give you and there is nothing he can do about it.

We bought this for our kid who is obsessed with marble run videos. He was so excited, but the set was a disappointment. It was missing a piece and the picture on the box was extremely misleading. It shows a picture of a child playing with a set that has so many more pieces than the set you are purchasing. We ended up returning and buying a set on Amazon that came with 236 pieces, glow in the dark marbles, and an elevator for only $8 more than this set.

My son (4yrs old) LOVES THIS TOY SET. This set is combination of 2 sets (80 pieces set plus this box) to get this amount of pieces. Plus all more marbles to play with 2 sets of boxes. It is so much fun to watch him play with this and talk to it. Even though the box age is 8+, my son who will then 5 in a few months enjoy this as much as her 8 year old sister. I believe it is safe at age 4.

On the back of the box they show a kid playing with the set, the set has a funnel and other parts, you know the FUN parts... those parts are not in the box. Very small barest-bones marble run. A ripoff in my opinion, misleading and way too expensive for what it is.

My almost 5 year old granddaughter got this marble run for Christmas. She loves it. Plays with it almost every day. When it falls apart we rebuild and it's different and better every time. This is her favorite toy.

Not Very Durable

LB - 9 months ago, Verified purchaser
Liked the concept (so did my son) but there were pieces broken in the first 10 minutes of assembly, specifically a plastic 'bar' potentially intended to strengthen one of the ramps and the small upper part of the loop/upside down piece snapped where it connected to the bottom. This was from regular use, not anything rough or aggressive.

It is pretty flimsy as other reviews stated, but my biggest issue is that the glass marbles came broken, to the point of leaving glass shards on the floor. I had let my 3 year old took them out of the box so I was upset to see they were such bad quality.

Very fun toys! My 3 year old was begging for a marble run and I started with this one. Fairly easy to put together. The instructions and the pieces it came with are not the same which is why it is a 4 star review. I would purchase again for a gift.

Flimsy, and falls apart easily. While we did have all the pieces listed on the box there’s not enough to make anything worthwhile or fun. This was a gift from Santa that left my kid in tears. Expected better from The National Geographic.
