I decided to try the Native Limited Edition Piece of Cake Moisturizing Conditioner despite seeing many reviews mentioning hair loss. I was looking for a healthier option without a lot of unnecessary chemicals for my fine hair, so I thought I'd give it a shot. At first, I was impressed. The conditioner felt great when applying, and rinsing it out left my hair feeling silky and smooth. The scent was a bit strong, but I didn't mind it—any stronger, though, and it might have caused a headache. If you're sensitive to scents, this might not be the product for you. I let my hair air-dry while clipped up, and went on with my morning routine. After it was fully dry, I noticed a nice shine and how soft my hair felt. I didn’t even need to use a leave-in conditioner or any additional products, which I prefer. However, after a couple of hours, I noticed that my strands started to feel rough. The softness quickly faded, and by the end of the day, the ends of my hair looked dry and the in-between strands felt unusually harsh. It was a bit of a letdown, especially since the shine remained, but the texture was off. When I tried gently combing through, I felt stiffness and resistance, which made me concerned about potential breakage. Given that I’m highly protein-sensitive, this gave me a “protein overload” feel, which is definitely not ideal for me. I really wanted to love this product, but I would not recommend it, especially if you’re sensitive to protein or need a lightweight, moisturizing conditioner. The only reason this gets 2 stars is for the pleasant scent. Also, I tried returning it to Target, but they wouldn’t accept the return, which was frustrating.

Extremely thick. Does not lather like normal conditioner. Leaves thick residue in my hair no matter how long I wash.

Still a bit light on scent, little more would be better. This scent is one of those scents that can take you back in time. Standing in front of a deli counter filled with iced cupcakes and cake, that sweet frosting smell.

Smells like plastic, not cake! Very surprised they missed the mark on this one. If you want delicious sweet smells, get their Berries and Vanilla.. SO good

Moisturizing for your nose but not your hair

The smell is absolutely delectable! I wish I could say the same about the product. I would almost call this moisture removing and it feels like it dries my hair out completely. I use other native conditioners that dont have this effect so I do believe it is the product itself. Unfortunately I have to mix it in with my other conditioners so I can have the smell but not the tangles and crunchiness.

This new scent is delicious. We all use native shampoo and conditioner in our house. My only complaint is that lately, about half the bottles have pumps that don’t work. It is ok for us because we will switch out the pump from the last bottle. But the company needs quality control on their pumps.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have been using Native shampoo and conditioner for months now. It is the only brand that is gentle on my fine hair. It reduced hair falling and I’m pretty sure made my hair strands stronger. That was green tea and blackberry. Now, let me tell you about this one though. It smells so good I almost wanted to taste it. It literally smells like cake. I have tried many brands but for now I’ll be sticking to Native.

I love the smell of this conditioner, however, it does not work for my hair at all. After using the matching Native shampoo, my hair (uncolored, thick) feels like a ratty bird's nest and after using 10-12 pumps of conditioner, my hair still feels awful, like a tangle of straw. I really, really want to like Native's hair products, but unfortunately, I guess they're just not for me.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This conditioner smells absolutely delicious - like real cake frosting! It left my hair super soft, smooth, and easy to detangle. The texture is creamy, and it feels very nourishing without weighing my hair down. I love the fun, limited-edition packaging too. A little goes a long way, so it’s worth the value.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Smells like dessert 🍓🍰 and feels like self-care I’ve been loving the Native Limited Edition Piece of Cake Conditioner. The scent is everything: soft buttercream, sugared strawberries & whipped vanilla indulgent but not overpowering. The formula is silicone and sulfate-free, so it feels clean and lightweight on my hair, yet still leaves it smooth and easy to detangle. Limited edition, but definitely worth grabbing while it’s around. Feels like a treat every time I wash my hair!

The Worst Conditioner Ever

1 out of 5 stars

I never write reviews but this is so bad I had to. This is the WORST conditioner I have ever used. It was way too thick, like trying to spread frosting through my hair. It felt as though I never even put conditioner in. With other Native conditioners I can brush my hair wet no problem. This one made it take 10 minutes and it still kept getting tangled. The smell was delicious so this is really disappointing. I am just going to throw it away.
