Q: Are these supposed to have an overwhelming fish odor? The first bottle I got had a subtle smell, but it was manageable. This last bottle I got was so bad that I can't take them.

A: I also noticed a strong fishy odor with this bottle. I used to take these after my last pregnancy and never had an issue. I stopped taking them too because it was so strong. I think I'm going to return them or call the company.
submitted bySkalala99 - 7 years agoA: I don't notice a fish smell in the bottle I currently have. I didn't ever notice it with my earlier pregnancy either. I've also taken the "Prenatal Multi" without DHA and those don't seem to smell strong either.

Q: Can you take these PostNatal supplements even if you are not post nor prenatal? I ask is that they have a lot vitamins within them & they are Soft Gels. Nature Made does not make a Folic Acid Softgel

A: Per the manufacturer, this is formulated specifically for moms who breastfeed - age of your child probably does not matter. You could still consume these even if not breastfeeding since there are not excessive amounts of each vitamin/mineral.

People talk about the fishy smell/taste BUT keep in mind it fluctuates per bottle. Which in hindsight is not great that the product fluctuates and smell and taste, but the makeup of the postnatal is really good IMO. The first three bottles have had 0 fishy smell. The fourth bottle I got did (and yeah it’s pretty strong and makes me gag). It’s almost like playing the lottery lol. Hope for the best. Also these are very large pills so if you have a hard time swallowing horse pills, I wouldn’t recommend this one.

I used these for my 2022 baby. They seem different now. It doesn’t matter which company I order a bottle, it has a very fishy smell that even stays on my hands. I can’t stomach it. The prenatals weren’t bad at all and I was very sensitive to smell and foods then.

These vitamins used to be good and didn’t smell. Something has changed in how they are made. I’ve gotten at least 3 bottles where multiple vitamins are cracked open inside, so there is then an oily substance on all the other pills. The vitamins did not used to smell. Now they smell very fishy and I’ve been noticing the upset stomach that other reviews have mentioned.

I purchsed a couple months ago. I usually dont rely on reviews..BUT these reviews are spot on about the fish taste/smell.... i dont even want to take them anymore. So now trying to research alternatives because others at target contain pyridoxine.

I love taking these pills post pregnancy and have had numerous bottles (now five months post partum). I feel they have helped not just my recovery by assisted with breastfeeding. However, I do agree with many of the reviews here that over time, there is a strong fishy smell and taste that will make you want to barf. I did do something different though that has helped with that. This last bottle, I did NOT throw away that little plastic thing that’s in the bottle that you’re not supposed to eat. With other bottles, I threw out immediately. I feel like it leaving it in has helped tremendously and I was able to finish the bottle with NO fishy smell.

These used to be great, but now they REEK of fish oil. When I bought them a few months ago, they had a mild fish smell, but now the fish smell lingers on my hand even after washing. Really gross.
