Q: THis price for a 12 pack?

submitted by Middletownmom_3 - 4 years ago
  • A: I think putting 24 bars on the front of the package is misleading.

submitted byBrett - 2 years ago
  • A: I agree that the packaging is misleading. And there is no cost per unit savings for buying a larger quantity of bars. In fact, it's more expensive to buy this 12 pouch/24 bar box at $5.79 than two 6 pouch/12 bar boxes at $2.49. General Mills is hoping you won't notice!

submitted byCorrie - 2 years ago
  • A: Yes, this is the price for a 12 pack of pouches. There are two bars in each pouch, making it 24 bars total.

I have been buying and enjoying these granola bars for at least a decade. Recently, I noticed the taste seemed stale and not at rich. Just thinking I got a bad pack, I tried another. Now, I see the recipe has changed. Please change back to the old bar. Until then, I will be trying something else.

Why are they different????

So it’s so weird, I LOVE all the crunchy oats n honey granola bars(6 or 12 ct) that has a BOLD, black expiration date! Those have the best texture. Like a lighter crunchy. The boxes that have the expiration date written in white are a different texture, more stickyish crunch…I don’t prefer these but will buy if that’s the only option! I’ve been eating these DAILY for almost a year now and this test hasn’t failed me thus far! I wonder if they’re made at different factories or something? Hope I get an answer back! It doesn’t matter what the date says(don’t get expired obviously) just the color in which the date is printed.

Unfortunately, they’ve started bio engineering

This is one of my favorite breakfast bars, but lately I’ve noticed on the label of ingredients it says that it contains bio engineered ingredients, which really bother me especially with all of the talk of bugs being added in or food like crickets. I don’t think I’m going to be buying this product anymore and it makes me sad because I really love the flavor or at least I did.

Biotechnology is the science whereby the DNA of an organism is modified to favor the expression of desirable traits as the organism grows. For food, this mostly refers to genetic alterations to crops like sugar beet, corn, soy, and canola to better equip those crops to thrive even when growing conditions might not be ideal. On the question of safety – our number one priority – there is broad global consensus among food and safety regulatory bodies that approved genetically modified/bioengineered ingredients are safe. The World Health Organization, the FAO, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, the U.S. Dept. of Agriculture, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and Health Canada have all weighed in on this question – and all have found that the approved bioengineered crops are as safe and acceptable as their conventional counterparts.

Bars are stale right out of the box (BB date is February 3, 2024). Waste of money. Used to rely on these for a quick breakfast on the run, but no more. Not sure if the new wrapper or new recipe are to blame but, either way, they aren't edible.

Go back to ORIGINAL recipe!!!

I opened my first Oats and Honey bar in probably a year today, and immediately went searching to see if there was a recipe change. It does not taste the same as before and it is not as good. I do not plan on buying these again unless you make that you've gone back to the original recipe for them. They are bland and boring. Edible if I'm desperate, but not something I'm going to choose to snack on otherwise.

New wrapper- Bad choice

I used to eat the granola bars for breakfast almost daily but will no longer buy them. Consuming a bar that expires December of 2023 but it is already stale in July. Since all the bars are already stale on the store shelf , if you try to pack them to take on the go they are a wrapper full of crumbs by the time you try to eat them. Telling your team is not helpful when you have ruined a once fine product. You can tell your team we will find a new product to spend our money on.

Shame on General Mills

I just purchase a 12-pack box and didn't look at the ingredient list as I have been buying these bars for twenty years. Lo and behold upon reading the ingredient list I found that they now contain "Bioengineered Food Ingredients" never expected to see those words. The only reason I can think of for using "Bioengineered Food Ingredients" is monetary on General Mill's part. Hmm... Not doing this again! I would have added photos but this form wouldn't let me download them. Hmm...

oats & honey new recipe leaves me flat and stale

Obviously the person who changed NV's Oats & Honey recipe wasn't around in the 80's when Coke decided to change their recipe. This new formula sucks. If the marketing team wants to research "New Coke" they will see how much of a stupid idea it is to screw around with a classic. I guess I will need to find a new brand after 20+ years...

New wrappers are awful

The new plastic wrappers are terrible. Completely impossible to open unless you have actual scissors on hand, which I don't know about the general population, but I myself don't typically carry a pair of scissors in my bag. They just stretch and will never open, and I get it's because Nature Valley wants to appear more eco-conscious because it's good for marketing (these actually can't be recycled unless you drive them to a special recycling collection location). If you really wanted to make a good product, try recycled paper or something compostable, not just more plastic that is markedly worse than your last packaging.
