Near East started in 1962 in Worcester, MA as a small, family-owned company. George and Hannah Kalajian immigrated from Armenia to the United States and set up a grocery store in 1940. Today the Near East family of products includes more than 30 different flavors and varieties of rice pilafs, couscous, and other grain dishes, all with the same high-quality ingredients, care and handling that Hannah put into the first pilaf. Great price compared to Frys/Kroger. This rice is easy to make, needing only a tablespoon of butter or olive oil and water, and tastes delicious - my six year old is always happy when it's part of dinner. As a mom, I'm happy there isn't anything startling in the ingredients.

GOOD to keep on hand!
This rice mix is a blessing to keep on hand for the MANY times that I need to fix a fast side dish. It is delicious, and very important, it is a non-gmo product. Seasoned just right, unlike my homemade that always gets “not enough this or that”; or, “too much this or that”.
