Slides Around On Ball
I bought this to mount my iPad mini on the yoke of my airplane. The magnet held strong from separating but it slid around on the ball if not perfectly centered or with any bumps. Unfortunately this was not the solution I was looking for.

Unable to use
Unable to mount and use. I have a 2012 Dodge 1500 pickup. There is no place on the dash to mount the ball that does not severely block important functions. I had purchased this due to a newly acquired used Mustang that had the mounted ball already. I mostly use the truck with the Mustang as my sunny special day driver.

Review: Steelie® Original Dash Kit
The magnet is too small and not powerful enough to keep the phone in place. The Steelie® Original Dash Kit was purchased after the previous purchase of the Steelie® Orbiter® Plus Vent Kit, which caused the vent to continually close causing the phone to not be visible to the driver. In either case, the devise is a safety issue by distracting the drive by continually readjusting the phone so the screen is visible.

This the best one ever. People that can't get it to stick need to clean the surface off the vehicle that you are mounting it too. Have these on 3 phones and 4 vehicles and no issues at all. Highly recommend.

Worked well for a few years, but just broke.
I bought this a few years ago and it worked fairly well. It was difficult to attach my Phone with one hand. Just recently though the gripping mechanism stopped working. I opened it up to find a tiny little molded plastic dowel had broken off. Now it won't grip.

Not strong enough
I bought the Original Dash kit and while the magnet will hold the phone to the dash mount it is not strong enough to keep it from rotating down until it hits something. It's not a large phone, just a Galaxy SE22. Completely useless.

Poor product
This is my fourth steelie - the previous three have been great. On this one the magnet will NOT an iPhone 11 on the ball - fall off on any bump or vibration. And the web site lists no customer service number. Quality has gone down hill significantly

Best phone accessory to have!! Life saver
I’ve had this on my phone for a year now. I’m constantly loosing my phone so the magnet is amazing. Especially while I’m on my construction sites. So this am I had to leave the job site and drive back to my office and then back to the job site. I had just made a phone call and put my phone on my truck to listen to music. I got back to site and found the phone in the exact same spot I had left it. I had driven 6 miles on bumpy backroads and it was still there!!! No lost phone! No broken phone!! Thank you so much for making a phenomenal product!! I recommend this to everyone.

Great for GMRS Mike mount!
Needed a simple, low profile solution to mount a radio mike next to and behind the shift lever in a center console that also did not interfere with the e-brake lever. Looked at several options at Overland MW that required a base, arm, adaptor base and finally the mount that would have stood significantly higher than the shifter. This works as I envisioned and has just the strength needed. It can also be moved around on the ball if necessary to keep Mike out of the way...

I've had several other dashboard phone holders and they were all mostly awful: some popped off the dash, others wouldn't hold the phone at the right angle, or the phone would pop out. Problem solved with the steelie - it stays exactly where you put it, and you can adjust the phone to any other angle. I badly need a new phone, but wasn't going to get one until I could get a steelie magnet for it. So happy they came back in stock!

I love it on my work phone but have a question.
So for my work phone I got and iPhone 12 with a steelie mount on it and I love it. The phone seems to always work fine. I just today bought and iPhone 13 Pro Max for my personal phone and the sterile mount magnetizes to the phone without needing the adhesive. This has me afraid to put it on but I love the mount and want to use it! Any advice Nite Ize?

The Original Steelie Magnetic Socket is not designed to interface the Apple MagSafe connection. That said, we recently came out with the Steelie Orbiter Plus Magnetic Socket + Metal Ring which is designed to take advantage of the Apple MagSafe ring of magnets housed within the phone.
