Q: How does this have "7g added sugars" when there's no sugar in the ingredients list?
A: Error most likely. I have found numerous errors on Target's food items.

From Oatly's FAQ: Our oatmilks (aside from the Chocolate) don’t contain any added sweeteners like cane sugar, which is why they’re not listed as an ingredient. The sugar in our oatmilk is produced during our enzymatic production process. Basically, we use natural enzymes to liquefy our oats, which enables us to create a really creamy product that retains a lot of the nutrition from the original oat (like protein, unsaturated fats, fibers, and carbs). As part of this process, the enzymes break the starches in our oats down into smaller components, including simple sugar like maltose. It’s comparable to how the human body uses enzymes to break starches down into sugars during digestion. You can read more about this process here. FDA guidance on sugar labeling now provides that any sugar created during a product’s production process should be categorized as 'added', which is why these sugars are listed as 'added sugar' on our nutrition labels.

submitted byBostonGirl - 7 months agoA: The sugar is not added seprately. Instead the way that they process the oats breaks it down into an "oat sugar" which is why they have to classify it as an added sugar on the nutritional label.

Q: The ingredients show that this contains Omega 3. Does it have any fishy taste or smell?
A: Absolutely no fishy smell or taste whatsoever.

Q: Is this made in a facility that also handles nuts?
A: Per their website, their oat milk is produced in facilities that handle coconut, but not tree nuts or peanuts.

A: From their website.. No. We carefully source our oats from our trusted supplier, Grain Millers. Grain Millers provides their farmers with a comprehensive support program that fosters a number of sustainable agricultural practices, including avoiding the use of glyphosate on their oats. In fact, Grain Millers has required that their farmers not use glyphosate on their oats since 2015 and conducts random, weekly sampling and testing to validate their farmers' compliance. As part of this certification, we submit our finished oatmilk to a qualified third party lab on a random, quarterly basis to have it tested for glyphosate residue. Because both our raw oats and our finished oatmilk are tested regularly for glyphosate, we’re able to ensure that our oatmilk is always fully compliant with the specifications for glyphosate residue free products.

Q: Does this have to be refrigerated?
A: Before the seal is broken, only our 64 oz oatmilk cartons require refrigeration. Our 32 oz, 11 oz and 8 oz cartons are shelf stable. All Oatly cartons should be refrigerated and used within 7 days after they have been opened.

Q: Does this oat milk froth well?
A: Oatly’s Super Basic Oatmilk is a lighter drink that works well in cereal and smoothies, comparable in function to skim cow’s milk. It can foam. The Barista Edition Oatmilk is a creamier oatmilk specifically designed specifically for foaming and frothing in coffee, if you’d like to take a look at that option.

A: Our 8oz cartons of Original and Chocolate Oatmilk are shelf-stable prior to being opened. Once a carton has been open, please keep it refrigerated and consume within 7 days.
