If your going to use a wand sprayer make absolutely sure that you put it down at the stem that runs to the roots. This is a very big MUST ! As if you only pass the wand over the tops of the weeds you got a very small chance of getting the roots ! Or use a hose in sprayer and let it mix itself in. It does work better if the soil is moist, so wet down the soil and wait for approximately 30 minutes to 1 hour then spray away. And yes you can mix up a hot batch of 2 gallons just add 1/2 more of product. It will kill all grass and weeds ! Hose sprayers are best on big areas .. this will get the product to the root base. A backpack type sprayer is just like a pump sprayer ! So yes you need to get the base of the stem so it travels down the base to the main root. I'm in farm land and as such all types of weeds are abundant here. I've tried 2,4 -d and it's good for ditches and tall grassy areas. Just think about the mechanics of the weed and the main route that goes down just like a tree except you've got to cut that tree down and then you got to grind the stump down to kill off the roots. I use the concentrate. And just because it didn't work the 1st time next time get the root stem at the base of the weed ! Happy weeding.
After 12 years of using it, it no longer works!

I've been using Ortho GroundClean on my property since 2013. The first years, it was excellent. I couldn't have wanted anything more. HOWEVER, these last 3 or 4 years it has been a complete disappointment. It doesn't kill ANYTHING! I can't possibly be applying it wrong. If so, I would never have had great results during the first 8 or so years. No, it's the product. It's worthless now. I've wasted SO MUCH money wishing and hoping it would work "this time." PLEASE do not waste your money.

We're sorry to read about your disappointment with Ortho GroundClear Year Long Vegetation Killer and appreciate your feedback. If the soil is dry, it is a good idea to water the area before applying. If the existing weeds are taller than six inches, cut them down and remove the debris before applying. To prevent regrowth, it is necessary to evenly apply it at the correct application rate soaking the soil in the area per label directions. We want you to be confident in our products. This weed killer does work well. However, the application is very disappointing. After a short time, the nozzle stops working, even with battery changes and no damage to the bottle, dials or nozzle. It happens every time I buy this and I’m left with a substantial amount of product left in the container that i have to transfer to another bottle or purchase a new one hoping that I can empty the new one and transfer the contents of the old one into it before the nozzle stops working on the new one. I have never used an entire container before the nozzle stops working. Ever, and I’ve used this stiff for years, and have complained many times. It hasn’t helped. I guess I’ll have to buy a different brand and just save their container to refill with the Ortho Ground Clear. Come on. Someone at Ortho can certainly fix this. It’s gone on for years!

We're sorry to read about your disappointment with Ortho GroundClear Year Long Vegetation Killer and appreciate your feedback. Please remove cap and verify the siphon tube is attached to the cap. It is possible that the siphon tube and sprayer needs re-primed. To do this, place the container above the wand (either holding it above or setting it on something) and spray for 30 seconds. If the wand begins to spray well at the end of 30 seconds you should be able to put the container down and continue spraying. We want you to be confident in our products. For this reason, we offer a product guarantee. If for any reason you, the consumer, are not satisfied with the results after using this product, you are entitled to get your money back. Hi, we're sorry to read about your disappointment with Ortho GroundClear Year Long Vegetation Killer and appreciate your feedback. For best results, temperatures should be consistently above 60 degree. A complete control may take up to 2 weeks. Weeds must be actively growing. Night time temperatures below 40 will slow results. Fluctuating day time temperatures, where temperatures are frequently dropping below 60 degrees, will slow results. If weeds are taller than 6 inches, mow or cut down weeds and remove debris before treatment. The weeds and ground should be wet after application. Allow product to soak into the ground. During drought weeds will slow their growth down. We want you to be confident in our products. For this reason, we offer a product guarantee. Hello. We're sorry to read about your disappointment with Ortho GroundClear Year Long Vegetation Killer and appreciate your feedback. To get the best results when making an application of Ortho GroundClear Year Long Vegetation Killer, we suggest ensuring the weeds are actively growing, which is typically when the temperatures are consistently above 60 degrees. Also, if the weeds are/were taller than 6 inches, we suggest mowing or cutting them down and removing any debris prior to treatment. This is because taller weeds are more difficult to kill and will prevent the product from reaching the soil to provide the year-long weed prevention. The weeds and ground should be wet after application, which allows the product to soak into the ground. It can also take up to 2 weeks for complete control of the weeds. We want you to be confident in our products. For this reason, we offer a product guarantee. If for any reason you, the consumer, are not satisfied with the results after using this product, you are entitled to get your money back. Limitations apply. I bought this roughly a month ago and it did not do a single thing to the weeds in my yard and around my house. I even did a test patch on normal grass to see the effects and it still did not kill the normal grass. I would not recommend this to anyone planning to remove any weeds from their yard.

In trying to get the special wand to spray, I realized there are a couple/few off switches for safety. I wonder if any of the poor reviews here are because ppl truly didn't even spray (as they thought they had). Could also be based on longevity, as I sprayed 22hrs ago, but where I sprayed, things are already dying well. I will say that I didn't see clear guidance on the bottle about how many "off" switches there are to ensure are "on" to spray well--or how to engage them / attach the spray nozzle. I figured it by looking for the spray coming out to ensure it was working & find them all. Found one "off" on the wand attachment, one "off" on the handle itself (easy to hit by mistake while spraying), plus the wand trigger.
Either diluted by sellers, or MFR claims untrue

It took my common sense several years to realize this product is not efficient nor works as advertised. I generously saturate the weeds above ground and at the base so it soaks in down to the roots. They do start dying with in a day but the ground is not clear after vegetation dies for more than one week.
