OWYN 20g Dairy Free Protein Shake - Dark Chocolate

I’m new to protein drinks, so I read a lot of labels before I chose OWYN dark chocolate protein shake. It has a very good, real chocolate taste, and I was pleased that it was non-dairy. My only issue was with the monk fruit. Monk fruit is just straight up gross. I still gave it five stars for effort. It does have real sugar, so I don’t understand why they had to add the monk fruit. Did I say monk fruit is gross?

Best protein drink with dense nutrition and some fiber (but not too much!). A perfect quick meal on-the-go.

Used to love this drink but something has changed and it’s a REALLY BAD change. Truly had to spit this drink out and threw away the rest of the bottles. So disappointing!

Taste like a moldy musty basement smells…. Wish I could give 0.

Owyn what did you do!!! My husband and I have been drinking these almost daily for the past two years. The last 4 cases we’ve had taste like DIRT. They’re awful. Idk what they changed but I’m really hoping they see these reviews and fix it!

HORRENDOUS!!! It tastes soooo bad. Made myself drink it for the protein and I almost puked. Made me so bloated and nauseous afterwards too.

This used to be my everyday drink. It was good. Now it tastes like literal dirt or the earth its so weird. I feel like I will get ill from drinking it. Dont waster your money until they release a statement about what is going on.

They used to be amazing, but the last two times I've purchased, they tasted like chemicals. Did they change the ingredients? I'm pretty bummed.

Had a terrible chemical, almost fishy after taste. Won't be purchasing again.

Great dairy and gluten free protein shake

This drink put me into immediate anaphylactic shock and I had to use my EPI-pen to save myself. I have a known nut allergy but this drink claims to be free of the top allergens. Surprise surprise, I found out that I am allergic to pea protein while in the ER. This drink so happens to include peas in the formulation. If you have a nut allergy, please avoid this as there is a correlation between peanuts and peas in the legume family. Be safe!

What happened to the original formula? I used to love this but now it tastes horrible, terrible aftertaste. I’m not sure what they changed in the formula but it’s disgusting now, which makes me sad since it used to be so delicious. Will not be purchasing again.

I should’ve read the reviews about the sensitivity of some people to the ingredients… I thought because it was plant-based I wouldn’t have any problem with it, but there’s something in this that almost instantly makes my stomach upset. I see on the packaging everything that it doesn’t have but not a lot about the full ingredients list. It’s probably is some sort of sweetener alternative that I’m sensitive to. Also, the taste is not great even though I have a high tolerance for bad tasting drinks that help me reach a health and fitness goal lol although I will NOT be buying these again…

Bitter and chalky tasting. I ran out of my normal dairy shake and thought I'd try a few other brands to compare. I've never tried a vegan shake before, and this experience makes me never want to try again. Tasted nothing like a "normal" chocolate shake.

Tastes delicious and very filling

I had this in a ninja creami with a small amount of chocolate fudge pudding mix and its amazing!!!

Bad reaction to this has anxiety and my heart rate went up never again, taste is horrible

Does taste nice which is a plus when you’re on a high protein diet (and let’s be honest some of the protein shakes & bars are nightmarish to say the least). One major minus for me would be that it isn’t enough protein. So if your protein goal is at least 135-150 grams of protein. I wouldn’t recommend buying this one.

My favorite/only protein drink disappeared from Target’s shelves (and my city, it seems?) I decided to try this drink, impressed by the ingredients on the label. I took one drink and was horrified. It’s absolutely disgusting to me. I checked the label again and found monk fruit extract as the last ingredient. The one thing I overlooked. I searched online and found that it often has erythritol, one of those stomach ailment causing ingredients. Im so annoyed every decent vegan/ Plant Based protein supplement now has one of these fake sugars added that seem questionable health-wise and taste so completely awful. This product has 4 grams of sugar which I feel is a reasonable amount and I feel confident that I would have liked the drink if only it didn’t have the monkfruit extract. Please offer without the monkfruit! Or Target, please bring back the chocolate ripple protein shakes!

I've never had such a bad physical reaction to a food before. For context, I have no known major allergies besides pollen. After drinking a few sips of this, I noticed my throat began to itch, my face flushed, I got an upset stomach, and I threw up. I looked online and I wasn't the only person with this problem, no matter what allergy status. Be careful of this drink.
