    Wish I could love but just don't

    While it's a great concept, it is very hard to get the fill right. If you don't, blue the top is very hard to get off. This is proving so for myself and for a family member with arthritis.

    OXO No-Spill Ice Cube Tray

    I absolutely love these ice cube trays. They work so well for anything from water to juices. The best part is the blue no spill cover. This cover makes it so easy to transfer trays to the freezer without any spills. What a great idea. Believe it or not, I can completely turn the ice cube tray upside down and not one drop of liquid comes out. Another great feature is that you can easily remove the blue cover for easy washing and to just use the ice cube trays. I bought 2 of them and I am sure glad I did. Highly recommend this product.

    I love covers on ice trays. It minimizes spills and keeps odors out. I wish OXO would also make a solid top ice tray and trays in different cube sizes. Silicon may work better for freshness, but I dislike the smell and feel of silicon.

    Halfway there

    While the silicone cover DOES keep the water in, the design of the trough around the cubes is backwards: it holds more water towards the back where the silicone attaches instead of directing the water towards the front to be dumped. Also, filling is a bit annoying because there's no connection between the cubes. I recommend changing the trough and adding mild contour to the cube area to direct the water.

    Bad taste

    The size and shape of the tray/cubes are great, and the concept is good, however the silicone cover gives the ice a bad flavor - not super noticeable at first, but as the ice melts you can taste it more and more, especially in water or seltzer (which is mostly what I drink). Tried just taking the silicone bit off, but the trays aren't stackable without the covers, so they just aren't practical unless you can live with weird plastic-tasting ice.

    Best Ice Cube Trays for Infrequent Ice Cube Users

    I have used these trays for over 3 years. I think they are perfect for people like me who don't want to take up room in their freezer with an ice maker but also would like some ice ready at all times. The silicon top is really great for putting the tray in at odd angles and not risking spilling. It also keeps the smells of the freezer out of the ice cubes, which was one of the issues I had with the automatic ice makers and conventional trays. The shape of the cubes makes it easy to remove one or two ice cubes at a time. You just put pressure on one side of the cube and it will slide up.

    Smells bad

    Can’t get rid of the plastic smell. At first it wasn’t too overwhelming, but after about a year of use, my ice cubes started to smell like mold. Pretty disbursing.

    There’s a hallowed out Perimeter around the ice cubes, that accidentally gets filled, and makes a huge mess when I try to crack out the ice cubes. Definitely not worth the price.

    not a fan

    I've been using these ice trays for the last eight months. I use ice every day. I like the cover b/c it helps to prevent spilling as you walk from the sink to the freezer. I do not like how there is so much ice "debris" that ends up in my ice bin. These trays have a little trough that goes around the perimeter and there is no way to prevent water from going in there and freezing. This leads to add'l non-cube pieces of ice. Plus, when you twist these tray to break the ice cubes out they seem to splinter (you don't get a whole cube) and again, you end up with ice debris. Maybe this is all normal; I have never not had an automatic ice maker. However, I am not a fan of having to empty out my ice bin periodically to get rid of all the ice debris/particles.

    Great

    Dreamy, the ice cubes come out easily, no odors, great for stacking, only downside is that in order to keep the flatness the ice cubes have to be less than full or when the ice expands the lid doesn’t seal tight. Other than that it solved a household problem for ever!
