Q: My bottle states a warning: “do not use with chlorine bleach.” What are Palmolive’s exact ingredients in this product? Is there an ammonia ingredient which would be dangerous combined with chlorine bleach?

A: The dish soap goes through an ammoniated process, whereby ammonia is introduced to the formula. Although it is not used as an ingredient, there could be traces of ammonia remaining in the product after manufacturing. Ammonia mixed with bleach can cause toxic fumes. My wife is senstive to fragrances. Palmolive does sell a true "free and clear" and "fragrance free" version of its clear diswashing liquid soap. But the problem is that the labels look virtually identical to ones that have frangrances, such as the so-called "Spring Fresh" scent. And because the labels look alike, merchant stockers often accidentally mix the scent-free and the scented versions in the same column on the shelf. When I mistakenly brought home the "Spring Free: version and my wife used it, the smell made her sick.

Works great and truly fragrance free (just make sure to look at the label closely so you are not buying the pure and clear Spring fresh scented version, unless you do want the scent). I’m so thankful to finally have found a truly fragrance free dish detergent that also doesn’t have citric acid! Holy Grail for our household! Will continue to re-buy.

I really like the pure and clear Palmolive dishwashing liquid. It cleans dishes just as regular scented Palmolive.

If you want the fragrance free Palmolive dish washing liquid, look for the words FRAGRANCE FREE on the label, in white letters, on a blue bar. There is NO fragrance at all--and I am sensitive--in the air, or on my hands. The cleaning power is also good. BUT--and this is big--there is something in the formula which cannot be smelled which has messed up my lungs for hours. I have mild asthma, and the other dishwashing liquids with perfumes have offended my nose but have never affected my lungs. Purchase with CAUTION.

Bought Pure & Clear today for the first time. In terms of washing dishes; works well. I like the idea of "no unnecessary ingredients" but in this case it is a FAIL. It includes a "Spring Fresh" scent which is a very strong and offence chemical odor. It's the kind of smell that can give you a headache. This product should be unscented to be completely pure. I do not understand the soap industry obsession with scents and as a customer it is so hard to buy soap products that are unscented. I will not be buying this again and I will not finish the bottle.

The only dish soap I would use, no perfume and no dye. It’s hard to find them in store that’s why I always buy them online. Buy this compared to other soaps. Be careful there is another Palmolive one that has fragrance which looks identical just make sure you read the ingredients list before u buy
