Book Synopsis

Passage Into Discipleship is designed to help older children and youth more faithfully prepare for the act of baptism by teaching what it means to walk a Christian journey.

This book incorporates four different learning models that stimulate young people in being excited about becoming followers of Jesus. Learning models include classroom instruction, community and communal hands-on experiences, mentors that guide youth throughout the process, and a day-long retreat that concludes the curriculum.

Topics discussed in the book include confession, contrition, covenant, community, and connection, which are each coupled with key scripture texts. Each topic covered connects church theological concepts with daily life application.

About the Author

Christopher Wilson currently serves as the Executive Senior Minster at Rush Creek Christian Church in Arlington, Texas and has taught this curriculum for over 11 years. Wilson received his Bachelors in Business Administration from Texas Christian University, a Master of Divinity from Brite Divinity School, a Certification in Pastoral Studies from Austin Presbyterian Theological Seminary and is currently working on a Doctor of Ministry at Austin Presbyterian Theological Seminary.
