Q: Will this antenna get channel 2 in Chicago from the suburbs? How long are the rabbit ears?

The rabbit ears extend up to 15 inches.

Q: Does this have to be placed next to a window in order to work?

Q: can this be used for a laptop to get TV channles
A: Hello Valued Customer, thank you for your question. This antenna requires a digital tuner in order to receive channels. Digital tuners are present in TVs and digital converter boxes, so it is unlikely that your computer could use this antenna. Also, the antenna uses a coaxial connection which is not present in computers. Q: what is the range of this antenna? do you need any other equipment?

The only additional equipment that you might need is a digital converter box if you have a TV that was manufactured before 2010 (analog). Q: How to install the antenna

Depending on the age of your TV, you will either just plug this directly into the back of the TV and run a channel scan from the TV menu, or you will plug the antenna into a converter box and scan it through there.
