Q: How well does this electric razor work for the mustache area, under the nose? it doesn't look like it could reach areas under the nose very well.

Two major problems with this product: first as noted by many people is the design of the head which makes it almost impossible to reach tight spots (such as close to your nose). the gap surrounding the heads is way too big. Second gripe is the battery - after less than 2 years mine doesn't hold a charge very long and will randomly spin up / down as though the battery isn't able to provide the torque required by the motor. Being a sealed unit, it is supposedly 'impossible' to replace but you can get to it with a bit of persistence. Nice to see it engineered for obsolescence ... Finally, the app isn't useful - at all ...

I also really like the lighted ring showing how much your pressing to get the best shave. My only complaint is I am not thrilled with the square like heads. I did like the rounds heads better but this is not a deal breaker.

It does the job but the guidance for pressure and motion doesn’t work for me. I’m thinking it is for users new to rotary electric shaving to avoid irritating there skin.. can get a good shave in two minutes using the pressure and motion I’ve always used.

When I read reviews before buying my shaver 9870 I was concerned about remarks in reviews that the pressure sensor is only a gimmick and the square shape of the heads is not a positive change. Having used Phillips shavers for the last thirty years I have to say the new shape made it much easier for me to shave under my nose which with the old shape was difficult and some areas were out of reach. The pressure sensor is also useful as I have sensitive skin and was avoiding burnouts with little pressure. I followed the recommendation by pressing a little harder until the light was green and I got a better shave with no burnouts or irritations. Both features for me are very welcome changes. Thanks Phillips for making things better!

Having the changing light ring has taught me how to use the shaver correctly and the app adds more details about each shave and how to improve technique. The cleaning system works great as well. I like that it uses the power from the shaver to operate it. The battery is long lasting too. I took it on an eight day trip and never needed to charge it. Best shaver I’ve ever owned.
