Q: My current tooth brush is like operating a jack hammer and my teeth hate it. Dental work and chips here and there too. Is this one gental and low on sound?

submitted by AliVic - 1 year ago
  • A: Hello there! The Philips Sonicare ProtectiveClean 6100 is designed to be gentle on your teeth and gums, which might be just what you need given your current issues. Here are some key points: It has a pressure sensor that alerts you if you’re brushing too hard, which can help protect your teeth and gums. Users generally find it quieter compared to many other electric toothbrushes. It’s effective at removing plaque and can help whiten your teeth by reducing stains in just a week. It’s suitable for use with fillings, crowns, veneers, and other dental work. It sounds like it could be a good fit for you!

    New Design Flaw

I purchased this in May of 2024 and now (October 2025) I have had to request a warranty replacement twice due to it breaking. The way they designed the connection between the head and the body leads to it becoming loose and it eventually stops vibrating properly. I had the original Sonicare toothbrush last from 2007-2023 but the new design is terrible.

Hold on. It will slip out of your hand.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Slippery. What happened to the rubber side of the toothbrush, that gave you a better grip on it? Vibrates, even when minimum pressure is being used. Not a good hint that you are pressing too hard.

Cut 15 min. off of each dental visit

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is my 3 Philips toothbrush, I love it. The first one lasted for years and was heart broken when I had to get a replacement because it would no longer hold a charge. I got the replacement that that one lasted for only a couple of years and then I dropped it...it was a fatal fall. I had to use a manual brush until I got my replacement and it drove me crazy, my teeth just didn't feel clean. I am back on the sonic and all is well again!!!

Overall, this Philips toothbrush is a top-tier!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I recently purchased the new Philips electric toothbrush, and I can honestly say it's been a game-changer for my daily routine. From the very first use, the difference was immediately noticeable. The powerful vibrations and precise bristle motion leave my teeth feeling incredibly clean and polished, like I just left the dentist's office.

too many bad brushes to choose from!

Been using Sonicare for decades, loyal to them. They WERE a solid company. You got your replacement heads and the toothbrush worked. Those days appear to be over. NOW you can buy a toothbrush that last about 6 months and have too many choices. After going through 5 toothbrushes in the last 4 years I AM DONE!!! How about making ONE GREAT TOOTHBRUSH with ONE HEAD and sell that!

    Cleans my teeth thoroughly.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I do like this toothbrush very much. Over the years, I’ve purchased many Philips toothbrushes, initially the most expensive ones, and recently decided to go with the more moderately priced models. All great but none seem to last more than two years. The only critique I have for the 6100 is that the charge usually lasts about two weeks, but occasionally just about one week.

    Simply Awesome

I love everything about this electric toothbrush. It is lightweight, its small head makes it easier to reach very well all my back tooth area, I love that it has three different intensity levels, which I manage to use efficiently. Now every time I brush my teeth I feel I just came out from the dentist after my cleaning, and I love that feeling of cleanliness very much. Ohhh also I got the pink color which is very light so it is just the perfect pink. I am very satisfied with this purchase.

Good brush, slow to charge, heads too expensive

Have owned this toothbrush for years; here's the breakdown. It has two basic settings, regular and gentle and a Hi/Low power setting for each It also has a pressure sensor that let's you know when it "thinks" you're pressing to hard. With daily use, a charge will last from 1 to 2 weeks. It takes from 12 to 18 hours to fully charge it. You can get a wide variety of toothbrush heads, but they're excessively expensive (no matter where you buy them) averaging $10 each brush. (So, if you change your brush head once a month, you can count on spending at least $120 per year) As far as getting your teeth clean, it definitely works better than a standard toothbrush...just wish the replacement heads were more affordable.
