Description
PittMoss Plentiful is a peat-free, OMRI-listed, organic potting mix with no pathogens, weed seeds or other heavy metals and harmful ingredients. It is uniquely crafted from recycled cellulosic fibers and small amounts of organic bark ingredients fortified with poultry manure, bovine compost inoculates and feather meal. This soil contains high amounts of readily available carbon, ideal for creating a living soil environment that is chock-full of soil biology. It enables a pH balance that readily adapts to meet the specific needs of plants, promoting robust root growth. By using PittMoss, gardeners can reduce greenhouse gas emissions associated with peat bog mining, and it offers a cleaner, more consistent soil option with rigorous testing to ensure optimal performance.

Glad I bought it
I had a very good experience. It looked fine, maybe a bit grayer than peat-based potting soil, but I expected that. I didn't see bits of paper with words on them as seen in a photo from the website. I noticed a slight odor as I opened the bag, a bit different but not unpleasant, and it dispersed. I have used the soil to repot a papyrus and a couple of months later it looks a lot happier. Will buy again, no question, including for outside gardening.

Great product
Tomato plants grown in Plentiful were much bigger and healthier than another potting mix. After seeing the difference, I ordered more.

Very Impressed!
Everything I planted in it is way ahead of plants in regular soils. I am a senior so the light weight and the free delivery were primary considerations, but the results are fantastic. Holds moisture so much better so I don't need to worry about watering in the dry weather we've had so far this summer.

Pittmoss is great!
Pittmoss is excellent - I use it for native plant plug pots, mixed 50% with organic compost. It holds moisture very well. Adding the compost helps it to keep its structure over the growing season - Pittmoss alone, if allowed to fully dry, has a hard time rehydrating and will shrink in the cell.

I am very happy with the results so far. I started more than 40 varieties of peppers 3 weeks ago and have had all but six varieties emerge so there's still hope. I just started around 140 varieties of tomatoes so I will know what kind of success I'll have in about a week. I used PittMoss straight out of the bag. In the future I may mix with some potting soil depending on the success I have with my first go around. So far, I am very happy with your product. I like the weight, texture and ease of use. Clumping is minimal. It seems to be holding moisture nicely. I look forward to using it in the future as a substitute for peat moss.

So far so good
I'm using Plentiful as a seed starting mix. I've just started pepper and eggplant seeds and found the product easy to work with. I did find a couple of seeds becoming exposed after the initial planting, so I was worried that the growing mix was too loose to protect seedlings. However, seeds are sprouting just fine and seem to be thriving. I'm very anxious to see how they progress in the coming weeks! I love the light weight, clean mix and hope it can replace my traditional seed starting mix which was peat based.

So Far I Love It.
I've used it to seed several trays of flowers and vegetables. To date many of those have germinated several days before expectation. So, we shall see how it does at those seedlings get bigger! So far it's a great product. Susan

This product delivers
As a member of the Joe Gardener Gardening Academy, there has been a lot of buzz in the last year about Pittmoss. 2022 I'd already had my plan in place, but for 2023, I got on board. The early returns are above expectation. I up potted a number of starts in a mix 50/50 with Pittmoss and ProMix BX, and started my tomato seedlings in a similar mix. Everything looks great and I'm impressed with the water retention properties and root growth. Pretty sure I'll be a repeat customer. I'm promoting the product within our group as a winner.

Perfect peat moss replacement
I use plentiful to replace peat moss in the potting soil/seed starting mix I've been using for years. It's a perfect one to one replacement with the same or even better performance, and no peat!

So excited for a great alternative to peat moss mixes!
I am thrilled with your product. I learned of it from the Joe Gardener podcast and ordered it right away. I have been using it for transplants and I'm about to use it to start some seeds. I have no doubt that I'll be thrilled to use it for seed starting as well!

Finally a sustainable alternative.
So far I've only used to repot houseplants and it works as advertised. My only complaint is that it isn't sold in a store in my town.

Buy This Now!
This stuff rocks. I've been growing everything from seeds for 15 years, and I can't remember seedlings coming up this quickly or growing more vigorously. You may not know it yet, but you need this stuff.

So far so good I used this medium as an alternative looking for peat moss. I just purchased the green stalk vertical planters and I must say in combination of the HP PLUS, THE PITMOSS ORGANICS, AND HAPPY FROG OCEAN FOREST MY PLANTS HAVE BEEN DOING AMAZING!!! I ordered one than had to order another part of me think I mayb using to much but I just ordered another 2 bags my ammendeong was 21c if the Hp + 10c of the pitmoss + 5 cups of the ocean I will experiment with using less to see if theres a difference. I'm very grateful for this product wish they made bigger bags and or could he found in markets

Loved it!
I already have a very good seed starting mix I like, but ordered this to test out how well it works after hearing about it on the Joe Gardener podcast in an effort to move away from peat. It outperformed my preferred peat-based mix and I plan to use it this spring!

Love the Plentiful!
Really love the Plentiful! Using to start tomato seedlings, and was a little worried at first when they did not germinate as quickly as I was expecting. Was lucky enough to listen to Dr. Bethke give a talk and answer questions in a JoeGardener class. Followed his advice on water management and let the seedlings' pots dry out a bit - within a few days all the seedlings started popping up!! The little tomato plants are taking off (already 2-3in tall), sturdy with good color - YAY! Thank You for making such a great product!

Good peat free alternative
Overall good experience. Seedlings are growing well. I mixed in organic compost to make my bag of pittmoss last longer. I'm committed to finding peat free growing alternatives and pittmoss will have its place in my peat free growing medium rotation.
