Q: Hi. I bought these for kids & their mom won't let them use them because they could hear other people talking thru them & she doesn't want strangers talking to her young kids. Is there a way to stop this from happening ?

submitted by Darc421 - 4 years ago
  • A: Hello - Thanks for your question! Walkie-talkies or two-way radios frequency is mandated by the FCC which we follow. They operate in the 136MHz to 900MHz frequency range. The Family Radio Service (FRS) walkie-talkie radio system authorized in the United States since 1996 for personal radio service uses frequencies 462 and 467 MHz in the ultra-high frequency (UHF) band. This is the specification we follow.

submitted by Grandma - 5 years ago

I have not used the walkie talkies yet. I activated my warranty and I’m happy with that so far.

My son was given the Pokémon Walkie Talkies as a birthday gift. He enjoys playing with them in the backyard. Great toy over all.

The batteries in one of the walkie talkies started getting hot as soon as I put them in. I could smell burning plastic within 1 minute. These are going back tomorrow.

I do not recommend these. There is a volume control knob but it doesn't do much as the sound quality is horrible. There is also no channel knob. My son and I were using ours and could not hear our conversations. Once we were next to each other, we were picking up someone else's conversations. Creepy! We turned the walkie's on and off but the issue still continued. These may look cool but they are junk!

Great for kids

These are pretty good for toys. My kids and I love them. I actually bought them so when someone is sick in bed, we can communicate back and forth easier. It could use a volume control and a belt clip, but I understand it isn’t advertised with that, so I knew upon purchasing.

Seems like a hit or miss product based on other reviews. Just purchased today and unfortunately have the same experience as other one star reviews. One walkie doesn’t work, you only hear static when you try and talk through the other end. Disappointing.

Same issue with two different sets. One walkie talkie's microphone stopped working. We could hear through it but couldn't speak to the other walkie talkie. Tried changing batteries in both. Recieved another set as a gift and afyer a few month the same issue happened.

Wouldn't Recommend - Disrupted by Emergency Lines

ndsienna - 2 years ago, Verified purchaser
Picking up almost constant local emergency chatter. Police, fire and ambulance talking. You cannot change the channel or even adjust volume. Even if I was ok with the kids hearing that (which I’m not), they wouldn’t be able to talk to each other on such a busy line. We’ll have to return.
