While different destinations have different “Reef Safety” legislation, we are happy to share that most of our sunscreen products are made without oxybenzone and octinoxate and we are currently working to reformulate the remaining products to remove these ingredients. Hawaiian Tropic does not use PABA in any of our sun care products. We do not design our products using nanotechnology.

  • A: The Dark Tanning oil does not provide any sun protection. If you're looking for to deepen your tan with protection from the sun, we recommend the Hawaiian Tropic Protective Tanning Oil which comes in spf 15 and spf 25.

    Not the same

    The packaging changed but it said same formula...it is not! I have used many bottles of this in the past, always loved it. The new version has a different smell and consistency, and applied unevenly. It also caused skin irritation and a rash, which I never had from this product before.

    love this product!!

    I’ve been using this product since last summer to which it is very effective!! I pair it with the “Hawaiian Tropical Sunscreen Lotion level 4” to get the best tan as using it without leads to a burn. Overall I would definitely recommend this!!

    Why are you lying about your product only changing the look and not the content? the new crap oil is not even close to what the original was! This is false marketing and I don't understand how you can ruin an oil that people have loved for decades. I am so incredibly disappointed and I have been a loyal customer for many, many years! You will definitely lose many loyal customers because of this! You should really be ashamed of what you have done! TAKE BACK THE ORIGINAL!!!

    If youre a good tanner

    I'm a great tanner so this helps me get there sooner than I normally would. It takes me two days of using this to get a tan that would normally take me a few weeks. It's my go to, other brands I've tried don't come close to this! Other brands put a "bronzer" in to give you the illusion that you are getting a tan, and those stain swimsuits, this does not have a bronzer in it. Please keep in mind that this has no spf in it. It is oil, so you will have a little shine to you once it's on.
