A: Technically not antibacterial. Though, the US FDA found 0 evidence of antibacterial soaps better at preventing illness than plain soap and water. Antibac soap can actually be worse long term.

A: Our Ivory Gentle Bar Soap Original has the original scent. In the beauty care industry, we use two specific terms to help consumers find the right products to use, unscented and fragrance-free. Unscented products may contain a light scent to mask the natural odor of the ingredients in the formula. These ingredients do not have a pleasant smell, which is why it's necessary to add a very small amount of light fragrance to make the product more enjoyable to use. Fragrance-free products do not contain any added fragrance.

Q: The ten bar package I have at home shows 4X MORE/PLUS in the upper left. But in the store I saw a pack of fewer bars with 2.5X and another, I think with 3 or 3.5 X. Explain this on the package!

I just opened a new pack of ivory soap and immediately noticed that the texture was more waxy. The bar smells much more perfumey and doesn't sud up as much as it used to. I hate this new formula and and extremely disappointed that there was no indication on the package that the formula had changed. I liked this soap because it didn't smell strongly, it floated and it produced good suds. Will not purchase again.

this is not the same product I've been using for decades. The bars now separate like a sandwich in the middle and falls apart before the bar is hardly used, while the ivory name is still clearly stamped on the side. My wife wants to dump it because you use beef tallow but I would continue to use it if I could use it to a sliver and have the same product throughout its life.

As for the bar splitting, this can happen with all bar soaps and usually occurs after a bar is thoroughly soaked and then dries out. When this happens, dirt can get trapped in the cracks as they are forming. To avoid this, be sure to store the bar on a soap holder with raised points so air can circulate around it. Change it back! The new formula is terrible, it smells awful, leaves hard to remove residue and is forcing me to change to another soap. All my life I only used Ivory, unless it is reverted to the old formula I will never buy any again.

I'll give you credit for fixing the smell from the first try at the new formula. But the soap is not the product it was before the new formula. I can no longer find soap that doesn't affect me in an adverse way. People can be affected by natural ingredients, as well People with heath conditions relied on your product. Whoever made this decision, you know where you can go.

Growing up, Ivory was our household soap. We got some fancy, floral soap one year as a gift, and when we began using it, I started breaking out in hives. Went back to Ivory and all was well. I was “an Ivory Girl”. We used Ivory to bathe in the lake at our camp. Never lost the soap. I am thoroughly disappointed that the one soap I had always come to trust to NOT be allergic to, has changed. That it no longer floats, that it smells WRONG. Why mess with a good thing?

I think this is horrible that they change the formula of the bar soap and not inform the consumer. It's impossible for the customer to trust in a product, when these companies add/remove ingredients and not advertise the change. What the heck did you do to the soap? Why doesn't it float anymore? Why does it smell funny? Are these new ingredients even good for the skin? What ARE the new ingredients?! I have used this soap because of it's well know "purity"....now I have to buy handmade soap because I lost faith in Proctor and Gamble. At least the name fits. You take a "Gamble" every time you use a product.

Back in 2023 we switched from Animal based cleansers to plant-based cleansers, which has slightly altered the scent, and we have also added Tetrasodium Etidronate and Titanium Dioxide. The process in which it is produced has changed as well and now requires less water, which in turn makes it more dense, which results in it no longer floating; however, it is still 99.44/100% pure and is still very safe to use even if it doesn't float! Thank you all so much for making this soap. I have recently been using the aloe soap and I do like it a lot. But...the shape has changed. I am Autistic and the change in shape has been very troublesome for me. I understand the economics of the soap business. A smaller bar at the same price gives the consumer a sense that they are getting the same value from the product. Plus, you all have to be profitable. I get it. From my perspective, I would be willing to pay more for the bars to go back to the former shape. It know it might seem silly but switching soap bar shapes is very distressing for me. I loved that the soap bars are, or were, a consistent size and aroma. They fit in my hand perfectly. They gave just the right amount of suds without leaving behind any residue. I will do my best to adapt and I do love your product. This is a first world problem, I know. But as an Autistic human, this size change is huge for me.

Been using ivory for so long I used to buy it in bulk. Got the new stuff recently when my supply ran out and it's absolutely not the same stuff. It's greasier, takes longer to rinse and doesn't clean as well as the old formula. You'll run through them much faster. BRING BACK THE OLD FORMULA.

I’ve been using Ivory bar soap, my whole life of 61 years. I have a handicap son who has used it his whole life of 29 years also. We’ve always loved it until now. Why does the bar not float anymore? What a great disappointment this has been for the last few years.

Typically I have used ivory original because it doesn’t dry out my skin and doesn’t make me itchy. for the last year i have had dry skin and itchy spots. my family dr. recommended trying ivory and was surprised when learning that’s what i use. i switched to nutrogena clear bars and it went away. i bought ivory again from 3 different stores hoping to have better results, only to be disappointed again. also, it doesn’t float anymore and made a liar out of me to my 4 year old son. which was honestly worse than dry itchy skin.
