Looks good; still trying to get it to work.
While I was excited about this sub, which I positioned under the loveseat in my theater, I've never actually heard it yet. Apparently, it blew the fuse at first "on", and I wasn't sure I had heard anything, so I made some adjustments and tried again, but no luck. Then I removed the fuse and saw the 'break' in the filament for the 3A fuse, so it was clear that it had blown. I was disappointed. I have to chase down an old style fuse now to try to get it going. I like the lbuild quality, and was looking forward to having a little fuller sub output to bolster my primary 10" sub some 10 feet away. I haven't given up yet, and though I'm rather pre-occupied now a couple days before Christmas, I'm still interested in getting some more sub base energy out of this little guy. INFO: Running a Denon 80 watts/channel 7.2 AVR, with two RCA sub outputs. Connecting RCA pin from AVR to Monoprice sub at the "input" left side of the sub, started out with 50% volume setting and neutral on the p

Punch and bang for the buck!
I own the 8" version and it's ok for getting some extended bass on a small system. I've had it for at least ten years and love the size. I needed another small sub and found the 10'"on sale and pulled the trigger. Man, this thing is huge compared to the 8" and WOW the output is crazy loud and clean compared to the 8". I had to lower the output and crossover to get it just right and I'm telling you this thing rocks. I own high end subs for my main systems and this 10" compares favorably to them at a quarter of the price. Well done Monoprice!

Annoying hum
Doesn't matter if the unit is connected or not, signal or no signal. When powered on, there is an annoying mid-range hum. It doesn't appear to be coming from the speaker so I suspect an transformer or capacitor. Thankfully it's not located near where we sit so it's not real audible. If it had been installed near the couch, I would have to return it.

Would buy again
Using the 10? in my 280 sq ft. patio bar area to compliment a pair of Klipsch AW-650 outdoor speakers. The sub is rated down to 25 hz but in reality it rolls off much higher than that. Give it time to break in, it will sound better. Hip hop bottom end will be lacking but it?s great for everything else. Would recommend for folks that do not need to shake the foundations.

Sent it back
Heavy. Even though it's rated down to 30Hz you probably won't hear it unless you've got it cranked to 11. While I didn't hear chuffing, it was definitely not as clean sounding as a sealed subwoofer. Something funky was going on with the RCA inputs; bumping the 12-foot Monoprice RCA cable at all caused weird grounding noise, pops, clicks, and hums thru the speaker. The Class D amplifier was also audibly humming when the subwoofer was turned on. I can say the frequency sweep was pretty even across the board, but ultimately the sub just didn't give me the extra "oomph" I was hoping for to replace my 20-year-old no-name subwoofer that came with a set of computer speakers all that time ago. Sent it back. ?????

Impressed. Fully worth the price!
It added a great depth to my home theater system. I have a small space and the bass it produces fills the area really well. I?ve hidden it behind the TV and those who experienced the sound were caught off guard.

Great versatility and sound value
I bought a pair of these to replace a much more expensive 12" sub, and although they don't go as deep and provide the some impact, they do crossover extreamly well (seamlessly infact) in my system. Vary warm, not muddy lower registers while still providing great extension in my audio/video system. Not to mention the placement versatility they add to the room.

Surprisingly good
I am using this sub to add a little bottom end to the in-ceiling speakers in my great room. I have it on its end in a corner between a bookcase the wall. I don't need this to thump or keep up with heavy duty home theater use. That said, so far, so good. It does the job very well and adds heft to the bottom end. It really sounds quite great for the task at hand.

HUGE
Not that this is a problem, necessarily, but be aware if you buy this for use in a small space, the actual size of this unit is massive. It's low to the ground, but wide and has a substantial footprint compared to a traditional subwoofer. It takes up much more floorspace than my current 10" Polk Audio rig, and I literally have no room for it in my apartment. It looks like a coffee table compared to my current sub. It's beautifully built, though. Hefty, a built in heatsink and great build quality on knobs. Can be wall mounted with included brackets. I really wish I could keep this unit, but it's a literal unit. Caveat emptor.

The product is good but it keep going into protect mode it doesn?t lock you have to turn it down it will adjust and come out of protection mode there was no option to purchase a warranty so my advice is to purchase through Amazon instead of the company

Two units, both hum
I had high hopes for this, even though the first one was humming the second I plugged it in and turned on the power. The replacement had the exact same issue. I have an old Sony powered Subwoofer that I wanted to replace that has no issue using the same exact outlets. So I know the root cause isn't power delivery, but the Monoprice units. The power on the two units is so bad it would 'thump' when you first hit the power switch. The longer that it was turned off when plugged in, the larger the 'thump'. This was before adding the audio cables. Connecting it to audio didn't matter. So clearly there's an issue with the transformer / electrics in the two units I was sent.

A great solution for me
I'm using the ssw-10 in a small room to support Rokit 5 near field monitors. I have no room for a square SW, but this easily fit in the corner, lengthwise on its included feet. I love bass, but not boomy bass, so I have it dialed down to 50hz. I run a dedicated DAC and HD source. I am extremely pleased in this application, as it produces the satisfying bass I was missing. It appears well-made and came with 90 degree RCAs. When running at low volumes the auto shut off was triggering, but this can be overridden and is not a concern. I received it much sooner than expected.

Good value
Worth the money. Way more base than you may need except in large area. Can get a little boomy when cranked up, but if you really want that much base, buy a bigger one.

Great sub even for a large/open concept space.
Plenty of power out of this amp and sub. I had to turn the level and volume down to a fairly low setting despite my house being open concept to the dining room and kitchen, 9' ceilings, and an 19'x19' living room. I have the sub in the back corner of the room with the breathe hole facing towards the space behind the couch. We get a nice smooth rumble with on screen explosions and beautiful sound with bass from any music. It is a bit too tall to fit under my couch but I knew this before purchasing so it was no big deal. Setup was easy as well. Great product especially for the price. The speaker and casing all feel solid and high quality.

Great slim subwoofer. Fits perfectly in my TV console. Sounds great. One problem, bought it new direct from Monoprice. Box had been opened & resealed and exterior had 2 major dents. Did not send it back since going in console. ??

Superb sounding birthday present.
Excellent sounding bedroom subwoofer with Denon 80 watt per channel receiver. Speakers are your 6.5 inch woofer with a ribbon tweeter and a Ominous 4.5 inch woofer with a ribbon tweeter set. Wonderful detailed sound stage. The system also has a Sony turntable with an elliptical polished stylus needle. Total THD is 0.030 on the Denon Receiver. This sound system was my 13 year old granddaughters birthday present. She wanted a record player so I assembled a HiFi sound system for her.
