Description

USB specifications limit the maximum cable run to only 15ft. This can make placement of USB devices difficult especially in a wide area. This USB over Cat5e/6 Extender eliminates the range limit obstacle by allow you to extend USB connection up to an astounding 150ft by using cheap, economical Cat5e/6 cables. This can be especially convenient if you already have unused Ethernet cabling pre-installed in your walls.

Installation is simple. Just connect one piece to your computer or powered USB hub, the other piece to your USB peripheral device, and connect a Ethernet patch cable in between. The device is self powered so there's no need to connect any power adapters.

Note: For best performance it is recommended to use Cat6 STP cables.

    No video through the extender.

    These did not work for me. I tried connecting a video camera over USB, but got no video through the extenders. It worked OK for keyboard and mouse, but not video.

    Doesn't work at all - not recognized

    I bought two of these, and I tried both with different cables, different computers and operating systems and different devices connected. In every case, the OS says device not recognized. It is not possible to say how it works, because it doesn't work at all.

    Not ideal for data transfers.

    It works, When testing very slow transfer speeds of around 1MB/s. This is not ideal for data but worked well enough for a 720p webcam.

    Great USB Extender

    Used this USB extender in a commercial video recording system, the primary monitor was remote mounted on a wall in the main office with the DVR in the computer room. This allowed a wireless mouse to be used to access and maintain the system from this main office.

    Simple plugin units with nice tight connectors

    IT WORKS! My surveillance DVR is downstairs in my office. I used your HDMI to Cat6 extenders to be able to check the cameras on my large screen in the living room on second floor on other side of the house. With the USB extenders I could use an extra mouse upstairs also. Cant beat that convenience.

    Not much to say other than I'm happy with this product. It does what it says it will do. I use it to power web cameras where an outlet is not convenient. My longest run is about 75 feet and I can find no reduction in power. The product is easy to use. While I prefer to crimp my own CAT5 wire, a user could easily (and affordably) purchase a CAT5 patch cable in the desired length from Monoprice to make the connection.

    Works great.

    The USB extenders work great. The live up to the advertisement . We used them for up to 100 ft or as short as 20 ft. They have yet to fail. We put in over 100 over the years in different situations. There less expensive than purchasing USB signal extender cables.
