Very Good!
I was hesitant to purchase this cookbook after I saw some negative reviews of this book being “basic/average/too easy”. Once I was able to physically see the recipes, I figured I would give it a try. So far all the recipes I’ve tried have turned out great! I really like the variety that is offered and the chance of being able to pair and alter the recipes to what you have at home. Some recipes I wouldn’t even think to make so that is a huge plus with me! I also like how quick and easy these meals are as well!

Love this cookbook!
So bummed to see this cookbook with such poor reviews overall. I’ve made a dozen things over the last month or two and I am obsessed with everything I have tried, except one. It may be basic recipes but that makes it easy for a busy mom, shorter ingredient lists of things you’ll already have in your pantry, and meals your whole family will love! A few of my favorites are the pork chops, varsity chili dogs, sloppy joes, numerous soups, and yankee bars!

Disappointed
I was really excited for this book to come out. However, after reviewing the recipes it appears everything was taken from Pinterest. There was no creativity or anything special about the recipes. I had high hopes it would be more like the Cravings or Magnolia books but sadly it is a bunch of uninspired basic recipes that are easily found online.

I was a huge Jessie and Eric fan in college. I bought her first book - it’s basically a sob story on how everyone hated her in high school because she was pretty..? Okay high school sucks, tell it how you want it. This new book is just as strange. Basic recipes with a side of suggestive pictures. I think it would be better had she geared this more towards those who needed simple, quick recipes. They aren’t bad, just not worth the money. You can google these recipes very easily. Anyway, if you want a good read, hit up the family reddit page. Now THAT gets five stars.

Just feed me
As previous reviews mention a lot of the recipes are on the unoriginal side and you can find them easily on Pinterest. I actually was more of a fan of the recipes in her first book which felt a bit more unique and different. I was intrigued by the olive oil cake recipe and went ahead and made it and the directions are definitely incorrect... it calls for 2.5 cups of olive oil .. all ingredients baked at 300 degrees. I was skeptical but went ahead with it and wound up with a mess of two cakes that wouldn’t cook, and were way too oily! I was super upset about this and went and checked other olive oil cake recipes online and they call for much less olive oil and lower temps. I think jessie is great but I was a bit disappointed in this cookbook :(

I am a longtime JJD fan and I really wanted to love this cookbook, but it really is a waste of money. I was expecting to see family recipes that she talks about cooking all the time...but instead it was canned chili and breakfast burritos and I don’t need a recipe for that. It’s also a little weird that she has now made two Instagram posts requesting people to give good reviews because a “hater” group keeps leaving bad ones. Well, I’m a fan Jessie, not a hater, and I can’t get behind this one. Too much hype over the last year for something very disappointing

Unoriginal- Basically a compilation of simple online recipes
I love JJD but she tends to be unoriginal. This book is no different. Many of the recipes are ones I’ve gotten online and cooked for several years. She certainly has no grounds to write a cookbook as these are filled with basic copycat recipes. I can only assume those giving her 5 star reviews are fan girls that don’t know how to cook.

Great cook book for the collection
Super easy and fun recipes for any occasion! I don’t want to spend hours in the kitchen and I can appreciate both the complex and easy fix recipes in this book!
