Beauty in change and forgivness
Feathers of Hope is a book that shows one thing for certain, change is always happening. It has been good to follow Kit and Wren from the last two books (Shades of Light & Remember Me) and in this book watch as they walk through the hard changes of life - growing up, retirement, forgiving past hurts, being ok when others lead differently, and welcoming new seasons of life. It was good to see the characters walk out forgiveness towards one another. As Kit shares, Jesus calls us to forgive, not because it makes us feel better but because forgiveness is the deepest response of gratitude for the grace and forgiveness we have received from God. "Forgiveness is one of the deepest ways we participate in the life and love of Jesus." Sharon always brings spiritual disciplines into her novels and has a way of making you look into your own life and gives you courage to linger with what might be provoking you.

Sharon Garlough Brown's Best Book Yet!
Once I started reading Feathers of Hope there was no stopping. As soon as I finished one chapter I was drawn right into the next. This is the type of book that is a gift you give yourself and then want to share with everyone around you! And then go back to re-read! (Or listen to! I've thoroughly enjoyed the audiobook, too!) Feathers of Hope is a delightful story that's also soul nourishing and thought provoking. I often find portions of the story returning to mind to ponder, influencing my responses to current events as well as circumstances in my own life. Not once did I feel preached at or like a message was artificially imposed, yet topics as diverse as mental health, forgiveness, navigating transitions, and racial reconciliation along with insights into Vincent Van Gogh's paintings are beautifully woven into the fabric of this story! Sharon and her son David, who helped write this, tell a tight story involving characters from her previous novels, especially Shades of Light and Remember Me. I personally prefer to read books in sequence but I believe this book can be enjoyed even if you haven't read the earlier books. The only warning I would add: don't start reading at night if you have to be alert at work the next day! Yes, I lost sleep! And it was so worth it!
